Mimir Chamber Music Festival The 12th anniversary season will be held from July 9th to the 17th at the Walsh Center for Performing Arts at the PepsiCo Recital Hall in Fort Worth, Texas. The world's leading musicians from orchestras such as the Cleveland Orchestra and Van Cliburn winners will be playing beautiful chamber music. During the two weeks guest artists conduct master teaching sessions with music students during the day and the concerts are held at night. What-A-Melon Festival Center, Texas hosts a fun filled festival in Downtown Historic Square on July 10th and 11th. In addition to live entertainment and food booths, the festival will have a watermelon growing and eating contest. Art and crafts from all over the county will be displayed. Admission is $2. 23rd Annual Taste of Dallas Admission is free for this hunger quenching event held in the heart of downtown Dallas, Texas on July 10th through the 12th. The best restaurants in Dallas will provide samples from their exclusive menus for the unheard of prices of $2 to $5 dollars. The food stands take cash only and there will be plenty of ATM machines on hand. "Taste Town" is the kids' area full of puppet shows, music, and food just for the little ones. For the wine lover, check out the wine tasting and demonstrations from Dallas' top chefs. There will also be a carnival midway area, "The Plate Fair of Texas" , for those who are good at games of chance. Tickets are necessary to play all midway games. Entertainment includes karaoke, concerts on two different stages, prizes, and arts and crafts booths. Hours are 11 am to 11 pm Friday and Saturday. Sunday the festivities will be from 12 pm to 8 pm. Night in Old Fredericksburg In celebration of the diverse history of the beautiful State of Texas, Fredericksburg hosts this 46th annual event focused on the German-Texan culture. The event will be held on July 17th through the 18th. Admission is $6 for adults and children 12 and under is $1. Two-day passes are on sale for $10. Held at Adelsverain Halle and Kinder Halle, whether you're German or not, you will enjoy the bands playing German and Texan music on two different stages, German food and drinks as well as the historical exhibits. 3rd Annual Ice Cream Festival Austin, an artistic haven for many a Texan, is hosting this delicious event at Waterloo Park on August 15th from 10 am to 7 pm. Admission is $5 for adults. Children 12 and under are free when accompanied by an adult. Presented by Amplify Credit union, the ice cream festival is held to benefit local charities such as the Austin's Children Shelter. Contests include Homemade Ice Cream Making, Popsicle Stick Sculpture, and the great Screaming Contest to determine who can scream the loudest for ice cream.
