More Anime Shows Hits Your TV: Tenjho Tenge, Ergo Proxy, Noein, Tokko, Basilisk, Gunslinger Girl, and Much More
FUSE, IFC, and Sci Fi Add Anime Shows and Movies to Their Programming Schedule
First on the list is Gunslinger Girl and Basilisk on IFC (Independent Film Channel). Both shows premiered on IFC on January 5th of this year, and each anime offered its' own unique story. Basilisk is an action packed show based around the clashing clans of the Koga and the Iga. Even though the anime is filled with fight scenes, the main story revolves around the relationship of Gennosuke of the Koga and Oboro of the Iga. Can they truly overcome horrific obstacles to be together at last? A must see for anyone who enjoys great battles, and a little bit of romance. If you are more into orphaned girls with guns shooting up Italy, then you might want to check out Gunslinger Girl. In the anime, the orphaned girls work for and are trained by the Social Welfare Agency. Soon after joining, the girls are implanted with cybernetic material to help enable them to take down the bad guys. The main story seems to center around the characters Henrietta and her handler Joze, and their involvement with the agency. A great show to check out for those who enjoy a story more about character development.
Sci Fi has finally brought anime back, and it seems as though both old school and new shows will be aired. The new programming block on Sci Fi called "Ani-Monday" aired on June 11th and will be offering fans some of their favorite shows, as well as a few of great movies. Included on their list of feature movies is Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society, Read or Die, Blood: The Last Vampire, Blackjack, and Ninja Scroll. As for anime shows, Noein, Tokko, and the old school anime Street Fighter II V are a few series making their way to Sci Fi. Definitely a good mixture of shows that many fans will certainly enjoy.
Surprisingly, the music based channel FUSE joined the anime hype on June 8th, and they actually look as though they have a couple great shows to offer. Ergo Proxy is one such show, and it centers around a futuristic city and the relationship between humans and androids. The coexistence between humans and android is contained until a mysterious string of murders, and an android virus threatens this relationship. This is where the main character Rei-I Mayer comes in to, hopefully, solve the case and re-establish the once peaceful relationship between humans and androids. An excellent show that mixes in robots, murders, viruses, and a great characters. In contrast, the story of the humorous show Tenjho Tenge revolves around the two new students who join this martial arts academy. There is just one problem. The students possess strange and unique powers, and unfortunately for them, these two bad boys will get a taste it. An absolute must to watch for anyone who enjoys some fighting and a few laughs.
As you can see, there seems to be a good mixture of anime shows on TV for every anime fan out there. So, if you are looking for a few refreshing shows to check out this summer, be sure to check out the anime on IFC, Sci Fi, and FUSE.
