That one was a drastic change and I don't think eBay is doing it for no reason.
I also believe that our eyes must stay on solutions not on finger pointing and blaming games.
The first ideas coming out:
- we can create eBay listings for physical products, with other words if we put en e-Book on CD it is according with eBay rules
- we can create Classified ads, the rules wasn't really well known because not of lot of people are using them
- just give up and don't sell Digital Products - this is not my stile to give up so quickly, but I know a lot of people thinking like this
Then the second wave of changes came out of eBay, this time was a clarification of eBay's Classified Ads Rules:
- we cannot put Pay Now PayPal button on Classified Ads
- we cannot use URLs to external Websites which represent our business
- we cannot use opt-in form in Classified Ads, which means we cannot treat a Classified Ad as a squeeze page
The legitimate question is what we can put in Classified Ads to remain in eBay rules.
We can put in Classified Ads to generate a sale, well, just a phone number or an email address. Now nobody wants to be a phone operator, and what about the customers having a different sleep ours then me or you.
In summary you can put in Classified ads just your email, and the clever solution is to use auto-responders to continue the process with follow-up messages which finally will generate sales for you.
Sound complicated but it is not if you use the power of aWeber as your auto-responder. In addition with this method we preserve the automated process of delivering Digital products, you can sell affiliate products as well and the life goes on.
I try it and it is working just fine.
The needed steps for selling Digital Products are:
- A squeeze page in which you create an opt-in form
- OTO (One Time Offer) page
- A Download page for OTO with a PayPal button
- A Download page to offer a FREE Report
As soon as you create the above 4 web pages, the process of enforcing them can be done via well sequenced emails using the auto-responder, and you sell Digital Products.
Why people wants to sell Digital Products via eBay! This is a good question with a simple answer. EBay has a huge customer base and you basically don't need to pay for driving traffic to your pages. How much will cost you the Classified Ads - just $9.95 per 30 days ad, it is around $0.35 per day. It is really cheap. If you think that the process is complicated, as soon as you did it for one item the rest of it is routine.
I like to hear from my readers, if you have questions, let me know.
