O.K. Michael Vick did something bad. He got caught. The legal system prescribed punishment for him and is served it. Now, does everyone else have to extract a pound of flesh from the man? NFL players are committing assault; beating up their significant others; being arrested for DUI; doing drugs; etc, and they continue to play football. Michael Vick is convicted of dog fighting and abuse of dogs and he is being punished FOR LIFE. Others who have done damage to PEOPLE keep playing!
If Michael Vick has learned from his experience in prison - and I'd bet it has made an impression on him - then maybe you could find a bit of forgiveness and reinstate him. It may be a weak comparison but think about when you did something wrong as a child and you parents punished you. What if they never stopped punishing you for that infraction? What if they were STILL punishing you? When is enough?

I am hopeful that Michael has served his time and thankful to see he is required to pay $100,000 to a humane society, along with only being offered a fair and appropriate contract to play arena football. I do hope he has been and will continue to be rehabilitated, but I would like to offer one suggestion to make that complete. Along with the money paid to a shelter, I suggest you require Michael to volunteer hours to a shelter, maybe 500 would sufficient. Only in being with these animals and seeing how truly dependent they are on humans will he begin to fully understand his horrendous choices and learn to value every living being for who and what he or she is. Yes, I am a dog lover, but Michael's situation goes far deeper than just respecting dogs. This is your opportunity, as the NFL commissioner, to really make an impact. Not only as an example yourself and for your organization, but also in a young man's life. Life lessons, I pray for my 4 young childrens' sake, is one of the most valuable part of sports.

Dear Mr. Goodell
Michael V. has no excuse for what he did to those animals or having a part of what went on. If I watch a football game I dont want to say that yes son thats the one who abused those animals. its not right. Also its hard to instill good values in younger people nowadays so what message are you sending. Maybe some of the other players will think about the consiquences to actions before they make there mistake. and yes it was bad judgement but why shoulkd he get a break for his actions.
Thanks F Morris

read the most recent letters from fans on you website and agree with them wholeheartedly. Please do not reinstate Michael Vick. I loathe what he did and will forever hate any team low enough to take him back, and in fact might just stop watching football altogether if he plays in the NFL.
I've been a fan of football for as long as I can remember - it was one of the things I loved to do with my father even when I was 5 years old. The NFL and the fans deserve a whole lot better than scumbags like Vick.
Thanks for your time.

Under no circumstance should this person be given another chance at the NFL. Like any felon, no prominent company would hire him, nor should they. Even with his fine and so forth, he has been paid enough to live on for the rest of his life.
And to the NFL, get off the celebration penalties, let people celebrate their success.

Post a CommentInteresting experiment, I regret not reading your articles over the last few months. Vick will be allowed to play again of course. The question is what team will want the media circus.
