More Fallout New Vegas Rare Weapons

Get the Best Gear in the Game

Fallout New Vegas introduced a ton of new weapons for the player to have fun with. While most weapons can be found on vendors or as loot from monsters, some weapons exist only in certain places. These rare weapons are great for both the power hungry player and the player who just wants to own every possible thing in the game. Here are three great unique weapons that players can find in Fallout New Vegas with a little bit of extra time off the beaten path.

Tesla-Beaton Prototype

The Tesla-Beaton is a shoulder mounted energy cannon that delivers a massive blast of impact damage to the main target and a moderate amount of splash damage to nearby enemies. Because of the high ammunition requirements (45 energy cells PER SHOT) and the reload time, this is not an up close weapon. This weapon can be used from range to soften up an enemy or groups of enemies before switching to smaller weapons to finish the job as the battle draws more close.

The Tesla Beaton Prototype never made it to its intended destination, instead the Vertibird that it was being carried on was either shot down or crashed in the southern part of the Mojave Wastelands. There it has remained for hundreds of years being guarded by several security bots intent on keeping the Tesla Beaton Prototype out of unauthorized hands.

The crashed Vertibird is in a gully a fair bit southeast of Camp Searchlight. Be careful as you approach as there are several robots just waiting to make toast of you, some of them equipped with long range missiles. Use your best anti-robot weapons and tactics and get rid of the mechanical defenders. After the area is clear go up to the crashed aircraft and claim your new weapon.

Nephi's Golf Driver

After a nuclear war, good weapons will be hard to come by so people will have to improvise. Luckily the world is full of everyday items that can also double as a decent weapon in a pinch and golf clubs are one of those items. Rather than having to worry about ammunition, the fiend Nephi decided it was more fun to bash his enemies to death with a golf driver. Over time Nephi and his driver became infamous among the New California Republic soldiers trying to establish order around New Vegas.

Nephi's Golf Driver is a melee weapon that isn't all that powerful but does come with a special "Fore!" special attack that has a 100% chance of success in knocking your opponent to the ground. Those few extra seconds can come in handy against some of the tougher opponents so it might be useful to switch to the driver, knock the opponent down, then quickly switch back to your more powerful weapon.

To obtain Nephi's Golf Driver you just have to kill Nephi. As far as Fallout New Vegas bosses go Nephi is pretty easy, just a little tougher than your average fiend. Finding Nephi is the hard part as he spawns in a ruin that is not a location on the map, although it is close to one. Just head south of the ruins that Vault 3 is located in until you find the Samson Rock Crushing plant. A short distance to the northwest you will see some ruins populated by Fiends. Nephi is in there among the Fiends waiting to be found and killed. If you are on a specific quest for the NCR, there will be troops in the rock crushing plant who will approach the ruins and engage the fiends with you. This makes the battle a little easier although it is pretty straightforward to begin with.

Paladin Toaster

The great thing about Fallout New Vegas is that people who just wander around exploring every nook and cranny and abandoned shack in the Mojave Wasteland are often rewarded with some great items. The Paladin Toaster is one of those great rewards. With a respectable 67 points of damage per second and the ability to make quick work of robots and anyone wearing Power Armor, the Paladin Toaster is a great toy for smashing faces in. It also looks pretty cool with coils down the side like you would see inside of a real toaster and lights on the side.

The Paladin Toaster is literally just laying on the ground in an out of the way cave. There are some Nightkin in the cave though, so be prepared for a fight, although a simple one if you have any decent companions. Once the Nightkin have been taken care of follow the right cave wall and you will go around a short bend and find a dead prospector laying on the ground. Right next to him is the Paladin Toaster. How simple was that?

To find Black Rock Cave where the Paladin Toaster is waiting to be found, travel to HELIOS One and then head North West. While the Pip Boy map may make it look like approaching from Black Mountain would be the easiest way, it is NOT. Black Rock Cave is within a minutes walking distance of HELIOS One and there are few, if any, creatures to be found along the way.
