While C.H. Guether & Son, Inc. recalled a list of products that may be contaminated with salmonella, this is just part of the recall list most are aware of. The additional products contain black pepper that is distributed by Mincing Overseas Spice Company. Most of the products are distributed nationwide, and it is important that everyone understands what to look for.
With the list of products that might be contaminated with salmonella is growing, it may be more difficult to remember what is safe. Most of the products recalled recently are gravy mixes and seasoning products. Some shoppers seem to be avoiding all products that have seasoning or additives. Products sometimes list phrases on the packages such as these to indicate ingredients: flavorings, spices, natural seasoning. Consumers are sometimes confused as to what exactly is in something they may want to purchase.
The Centers for Disease Control has listed information about salmonella and how to handle an outbreak on their site. Please see the CDC link below this information.
To speak with someone about further information about products in your area that may be part of the food recall, someone may be reached at C.H. Guenther & Son, Inc. Monday through Friday from 8 AM until 5 PM daily at (800) 847-5608.
For information online about the current food recall a link is provided at the end of this article. This seems to be one of the largest food recalls in recent years due to salmonella.
