More Graduations

cecil hickman
Lurking new fears at my graduations end,

Eager though to have freedom in life,

I ponder what life may bring and send.

These are my memories with others so rife.

I look back now to recall my feelings true.

However, I have no pitfalls or recurring clue.

True those high school days, I hated so.

Though philosophically, what did I know.

Homework, sitting in all day, what a dope,

Worrying about a grade, without any hope,

Such trepidation I had within those days.

Looking into my future, with so many ways,

Graduation is a treasure before all truly pleasure.

Now working each day, hours are the measure.

Watching the clock in mind or reality,

Taking upon a lack of true creativity,

Unless your job is a labor of love and enjoyment,

Jump up for higher learning and better employment.

Continue your education and have another graduation

I love that last line! Nicely penned.
