More Michael Jackson Rumors - was Michael Jackson a Christian when He Died?

Did Michael Jackson Become a Christian a Few Weeks Before His Death?

Previously reported at:"Did Michael Jackson Become a Christian Right Before He Died?"

Superstar Michael Jackson passed away on June 25 (see my article "Michael Jackson King of Pop Dead at 50). It was a tragic event that topped other recent celebrity deaths, creating shock waves around the world. Immediately after his death, rumors began circulating that Michael Jackson had become a Christian shortly before his death. This rumor has not only been spread by viral emails, but has also been reported by the media.

Did Michael Jackson Become a Christian Right Before He Died?

The most widely circulated story claimed that gospel artists Andraé Crouch and his sister Sandra led Michael to accept Christ right before Michael Jackson died. While Michael Jackson seemed to reinvent his faith as often as he did his music and his appearance (see Michael Jackson's gospel music ties), I chose not to report the story without investigating it. You can read my full article at "Did Michael Jackson become a Christian right before he died?" but here is a synopsis:

Michael Jackson's Spiritual Journey

Michael Jackson grew up in the Jehovah's Witnesses. During his 2005 trial he apparently turned to Kaballah. During his life, Michael Jackson sought out several high profile spiritual advisers including Orthodox Jew Rabbi Shmuley Boteach and New Age guru Deepak Chopra (Liveprayer.com). Chopra was frequently seen on television interviews following Michael's death. Michael Jackson also followed several of his brothers into Islam. Jackson was clearly a man searching for something.

Michael Jackson and Andraé Crouch

In the article "Michael Jackson's gospel music ties," I mentioned the relationship between Michael Jackson and Andraé Crouch. To find out the truth about that last visit between Andraé Crouch, Sandra and Michael Jackson, I turned to Andraé's Facebook page. Here is some of what I found posted there: See also:

While Michael Jackson definitely had a meeting with Andraé Crouch and his sister Sandra, according to comments posted on Andraé's Facebook page by the admin, Michael Jackson "did NOT reject Jesus or the prayer when they prayed, and gladly joined in prayer.' He usually doesn't touch anybody, but he touched them, and held their hands in a circle as they sang and prayed... There was NO actual 'sinners prayer' however, but they did talk and pray about Jesus and the anointing of the Holy Spirit."

Andrae's sister, Sandra, also addressed the rumors about the meeting with Michael Jackson and her brother Andraé on her own Facebook page saying, "It has been brought to my attention that several media outlets have been erroneously reporting that my brother, Andrae Crouch and me met our dear friend Michael Jackson several weeks prior to his death so he could accept Christ. This is incorrect and absolutely not true."

Thank you so much for this article. I have been trying to find out the truth for a while now, even though I am actually sad that the rumour (for once) was untrue. Michael will never be able to be replaced and if there has been any foul play, I pray that God will deal with those concerned accordingly. At last, that poor, lonely man can finally rest without being stalked, ridiculed for bad choices, wrongfully accused and torn down by others. He was not perfect at all but he used his fame and finaces to leave a legacy and bless those less fortunate. RIP MJ. x

In my opinion, Michael Jackson did wrong things without realizing they were wrong a lot of the time. I just think his life was a confused mess. God will take that into consideration.

there is no doubt Michael I believe had a spiritual heart..he certainly had challenges in his life as we all do
Ultimately yes God is the final judge (thankfully he is and not us)
and Michael is now in the hands of almighty God the Lord of lords and the king of kings..no one knows when there will be no tomorrow and the the time to accept Jesus as lord and savior is today
and yes Donald it as that easy just believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved
Doesnt mean your life is suddenly perfect or without problems it just means you can call and he will answer cause he loves you unconditionally (hard for humans to understand unconditional love)
Jesus died on that cross for you and for me..
Blessed be the name of the lord

How strange - we both just did articles on somewhat of the same subject! Great comment on mine, by the way!! Sorry I haven't been here in a couple of days, been working hard on that!

Becoming a Christian IS easy - forgiveness and redemption are just a prayer away. It is walking the walk that is virtually impossible, hampered as we are with this carcass of needing, wanting, selfish flesh...
