I just love a good quote. Quotes serve as tiny tidbits of inspiration, humor, and all sorts of other good things that are short, to the point, and fun to read, and one of my favorite places to read good quotes is via my Twitter account. There are a great many Twitterers out there who dedicate themselves completely to providing their followers with sometimes thought-provoking, sometimes inspirational, and oftentimes just things that make you go "hmmm."
A big part of my Twitter activity, which also helps me gain followers, is retweeting the quotes that I find interesting, useful, or just plain fun. That way, others who may not have otherwise gotten to see them can read what I share and hopefully get some enjoyment out of them as I do. Once again I've collected some of my favorite quotes from the last month or so and I share them here with you in the hopes that you'll find some of them useful or enjoyable. Take a read:
Taking Chances and Following Your Dreams
In my "Keys to Life" series, I spoke about how taking chances in life is important. We all have dreams, and sometimes the only way to reach them is not to give up n them. These are some quotes that I turn to to keep me motivated in my own quest to reach my dreams:
"Don't stop when you're tired. Stop when you're done."
"The only time you run out of chances, is when you stop taking them."
"When you know what you want, and you want it badly enough, you'll find a way to get it." Jim Rohn
"Happy are those who dream dreams and are ready to pay the price to make them come true." - Leon Joseph Suenens
"I don't regret the things I've done; I regret the things I didn't do when I had the chance."
"No matter where you are in life right now, no matter who you are, no matter how old you are, it is never too late to be who you are meant to be."
"When I thought I couldn't go on, I forced myself to keep going. My success is based on persistence, not luck." Estee Lauder
"Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen." - Michael Jordan
"The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will." -V. Lombardi
"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined." - Henry David Thoreau
"Great achievement is usually born of great sacrifice and is never the result of selfishness." N.H.S. Laws of Success
"The time is always right to do what is right." -Martin Luther King Jr.
"Real poverty is the loss of imagination." - Denyce Graves
Expecting bliss
Attitude is everything in life. What you expect is what you will experience, and learning to expect good things will only lead you to experience happiness. Be happy and confident always, and things will always look bright.
"People are like books, some of the best have the simplest covers & some of the worst have the best covers."
"Everything is alright in the end. If it's not alright, then it's not the end."
"There's a light at the end of every tunnel. Just pray it's not a train."
"Remember no one can make you feel inferior without your consent." - Eleanor Roosevelt
"You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think."
"He is a wise man who does not grieve for the things which he has not, but rejoices for those which he has." - Epictetus
"To grow spiritually, we must learn to respond to our own inner motivation, rather than to the exterior forces that will affect us every day."
"Smile more than you cry, give more than you take, and love more than you hate."
Things that make you go "hmm"
Then there are quotes that, when you read them, make you say, "Yeah, that's so true" or give you a chuckle at how they might pertain to your own life. You need these sometimes just to make you sure that you're not the only one who thinks like you do.
"Dear life, when I asked if my day could get any worse it was a rhetorical question not a challenge."
"You can tell more about a person by what he says about others than you can by what others say about him". - Leo Aikman
"No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted". -Aesop
"Remember that the more they hate, the more you shine."
"Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life."
Live for today
Finally, there are some quotes that remind you that the past is in the past and the future shouldn't give you too much worry. Enjoy each moment of your life in the here and now because yesterday is gone and tomorrow might not ever come.
"Finish each day & be done with it. You have done what you could. Learn from it. Tomorrow is a new day." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
"Never regret anything that has happened in your life. It cannot be changed, undone, or forgotten so take it as a lesson learned and move on."
I hope you've enjoyed reading these quotes as much as I have. I turn to them often when I feel that i need to be reminded of the important things in life and I also use them in my classroom as a means of giving my students some valuable life lessons. They always spark good conversation! As always, thanks for reading!
