If you like though you may want to just go out and hire a professional decorator. Doing that would save you lots of time, energy and thought. This however may or may not be in your budget. But it is a thought if it is.
Browsing through catalogs, and walking through furniture show rooms, and looking online are all places to find some very good ideas as you plan to get busy with your decorating plans.
But something to keep in mind is your darling little girl is not going to be a toddler forever. What looks nice or sweet for a toddler, may just not work for and older child.
You can however design your little girl's room so that you do not have to completely redo it every couple of years. If you plan ahead and take careful thought as to the furnishings that you will be placing in your darling daughter's room.
For example if you purchase a large oval stand up mirror for your daughter's room, this will be something that will be functional and useful for your daughter even when she is reaches her teen years and beyond. A well built quality mirror may one day become an heirloom treasure.
If you do place such a mirror in your toddler's room, it will need to be placed in a corner, preferably near your daughter's dressing area. (Like near her closet or dressers, but not to where any door could be swung open and break it.)
A white or beige frame around the mirror will look nice, and can be matched to white or pink or another light color that you may decide to use for a dresser, wardrobe or bed-frame.
Painted furniture can be attractive and if made of quality wood, can be sanded and re-done, in a different color at a later time. Or even sanded down to the bare wood, and stained. To do this however you will want to purchase furniture that is well-made and sturdy. The cheaper furniture will not hold up, to being redone, and basically is really a waste of money.
So if possible look around for furniture that is well-made, or if you can afford it search out a woodworker who knows how to make furniture. If you go this route you may find you have more choices, you may even be able to help design the wardrobe or dresser. This may be fun, especially if you are creative.
If you have either went to a carpenter who makes furniture or to a store that sells unfinished wood furniture. You can paint, stain or stencil your furniture. If you use stencil's you can also use the same stencil designs on the walls and even curtains and bed-coverings.
Painting and stenciling can make your toddler's room look like you've hired an interior decorator to come in and completely redo your child's room. Also painting and stenciling is a lot easier to redo than wallpaper, and cheap furniture.
