FEST CAMP from The Lesson Center
This unique summer arts camp in the Lehigh Valley allows students ages 9 to 18 to bring the dream of being a rock star to life. The students work together with their teachers to form 4 different bands ; each band will get to perform 2 songs on stage at Musikfest for a camp recital. Each day will include vocal instructions, warm-ups, guest speakers and one-on-one instruction with The Lesson Center's staff of musician teachers. Space is limited, and students must meet specific prerequisites or have a recommendation from their teacher to attend. This unique music summer camp meets at the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Performing Arts. My kids and I saw the concert last year at Musikfest, and it was so much fun to watch. The kids did a great job, sang fun songs and were really talented. For kids who are serious about music, this camp is a must.

MADCAP Music Camps
If your child enjoys playing his stringed instrument and wants to learn more, then MADCAP Music Camps are the perfect place. 2 different camps are being offered for 2010: Chamber Camp and MADCAP Harp. In Chamber Camp, violin, viola and cello students are given the opportunity to play in trios and quartets with their peers. Each group has its own professional coach and prepares music to play at the final concert at the end of the camp week. Abilities range from beginner to advanced, and students must be able "hold their own" when playing with peers. MADCAP Harp is brand new this year and will teach students the basics of playing the harp as well as other aspects of the musical world. This camp is open to anyone 10 and over, even adults, but space is limited to 12 people, so register early. The only requirement is that students have basic music reading skills (bass and treble clefs).
