Morgan Freeman and Wife, Myrna Colley-Lee, Divorcing After 24 Years of Marriage

Morgan Freeman may be headed toward recovery following a serious car crash on August 3rd, but it looks like he's still heading for divorce court after more than two decades of marriage. The Press Association is reporting that Morgan Freeman's second marriage of 24 years to Myrna Colley-Lee is coming to an end. Freeman and his estranged wife Myrna Colley-Lee separated in December of last year and Freeman's friend and business partner, Bill Luckett, has been quoted in the Memphis Commercial-Appeal as confirming that there is a "divorce action pending".

Seems the 71-year-old Dark Knight star also wasn't driving Miss Daisy when the crash occurred this past Sunday in Memphis, Tennessee, but he was instead driving with 48-year-old Demaris Meyer an Executive Assistant with Federal Express. E-Online reports that the Jaws of Life were used to pry Freeman and Meyer from the vehicle that flipped as Freeman lost control of the wheel. Following an extensive surgery to reconnect the nerves in Freeman's left arm, there is no official word on how Meyers is doing, but both are alive and appear to have survived a harrowing ordeal after being airlifted to a nearby hospital. Morgan Freeman has since been released from the hospital. In fact, the Oscar-Winning actor told E! News that, "I'm doing very well. I feel really good" following his hospital release on Wednesday.

Morgan Freeman has enjoyed an illustrious career spanning more than forty years with such film credits as The Shawshank Redemption, Batman Begins, Million Dollar Baby and Gone Baby Gone. His most recent film, The Dark Knight, starring Christian Bale and the late Heath Ledger, opened with popular success just a few weeks ago. In the film, Freeman returns to his role as Lucius Fox, an employee and confidante of the superhero, Batman.

According to Celebrity.RightPundits.com, Morgan Freeman's soon to be ex-wife, Myrna Colley-Lee, is a costume designer and is actually Morgan Freeman's second wife. The two of them have one child together and Freeman adopted Colley-Lee's two children from her previous marriage. Morgan Freeman also has two other children from his first marriage to Jeanette Adair Bradshaw. Prior to his separation from Colley-Lee, the two lived together on a sprawling ranch in Memphis, Tennessee.

Morgan Freeman may have won an Academy Award for Supporting Actor in Million Dollar Baby, but he can rest assured that he will be soon be giving his ex-wife Myrna Colley-Lee a million dollar award of her own as this divorce proceeds.
