Moscow's Domodedovo Airport Rocked by Terror Blast'"Death Toll Mounts

Anthony Ventre
There are varying reports of death and injury stemming from a bomb which went off in one of Moscow's busiest airports--Domodedovo Airport, located about 15-20 miles southeast of Moscow. English Pravda first reported that two people were killed but notes that the BBC has reported ten persons sustained fatal wounds. Fox News Television is meanwhile reporting that 23 have been killed with 130 injured but the story is still developing.

A Fox News feed from RIA Novosti news agency holds to the 10 deaths figure. The blast occurred in the baggage claim area at 16:40 Moscow time.

There are 77 airlines which fly in and out of the airport, and the bomb blast occurred at the international terminal, which has been closed to arriving flights. No theories have been advanced about the reason for the blast but Russians remember a 2004 attack by two female Chechen suicide bombers which killed 90 people and destroyed two planes.

There are reports of a suicide bomber, but those reports have not been confirmed. The BBC site quotes a Russian investigator declaring that the explosion was certainly the work of terrorists. Neither Chechen nor Islamist terrorists have been ruled out as possible originators of the attack.

Airport security is shutting down airports around Moscow as the investigation moves swiftly. Russian President Medvedev has appeared on Russian TV corroborating reports of the terror attack.

I'm just testing to see if I can comment here. I've received numerous reports that people are unable to commment on articles I write. If anyone's reading this, thanks for reading and I appreciate your support.
