This activity that I was going to do can be found on this page. I had to make adjustments to the activity because I have some many in my class and we only have about 30 minutes to do the activity. If you have a small class and have a place to put the activity, you can probably follow the instructions on the site that I gave you. However, I teach children's church so I don't have a permanent classroom and we usually have a lot of kids. So this is what I did.
I decided to use different people. The people that are available on this site you have to put together. They have different parts like the body, hair, and clothes. Having so many kids and not much time, that would be time consuming. I loved their idea so much that I wanted to use it. So I figured out another way. I went to dltk-kids.com and copy some of the people from the Bible coloring pages. I pasted them in fireworks and shrunk them down some. I used four different people. I was going to run off copies at church and have the children color them and cut them out.
Since there are so many children, I had to make enough people, seas, fish, cardboard, and toilet paper rolls for all of them. That was going to take a lot of material. So I decided to make the entire scene smaller. So I shrunk everything down. I made the cardboard pieces the size of half a construction sheet of paper. Then I cut the construction paper in half and then cut it in half again to do the sea.
You are free to do it however you want. If you want to shrink some coloring pages down like I did and don't have a program to do it, please send me an email with the links and I will be more than happy to help you out. You can erase everything in the coloring sheet except the people. That way if you find a coloring sheet that you really want to use, you can just erase everything else.
The story of the Red Sea can be found in Exodus. I found these books at my local library called Bedtime Bible Stories. They have great stories in them. You may want to check with your local library and see if they have them. They are great for children's church and Sunday school lessons.
