Mosley Vs. Cotto Preview - WBA Welterweight Title

Two Gladiators Will Collide Head to Head on November 10th

On November 10th at Madison Square Garden in New York City, "Sugar" Shane Mosley (44-4 36KOs) will challenge Miguel Cotto (30-0 25KOs) for the WBA version of the welterweight title.

Cotto-Mosley has the potential to generate an iconic "Fight of the year" slogan because of its competitors headlining it. Mosley, 36, is a favorite to dismantle the ferociousness of Cotto's attack. Shane is faster, more experienced, the better boxer and has been in more high-level championship competition.

For Cotto, 26, he'll look to impose his will by using his strength, punching power and mental toughness. Both fighters are known to generate explosive velocity in the middle of the ring; thus, it was necessary to match up these two combatants.

Shane at 36 years of age still has quite a bit of gas left in his tank. Despite four losses on his resume, Shane has only really lost to two people: Vernon Forrest & Winky Wright. At this stage in the game Shane is looking for the big fights to add more shine to his illustrious legacy.

In the last two years he's gone (5-0 2KOs), the two KO's coming from his epic battles with Fernando Vargas. By taming a younger, supposedly stronger and more aggressive Miguel Cotto, Mosley can prove to the world that at 36 he can still bang with the younger guys.

Cotto is rising fast to the top. His recent destruction of Zab "Super" Judah is his biggest victory to date. During Judah-Cotto, fans and spectators got the opportunity to see just what kind of heart Cotto carries.

Although he was stunned quite frequently throughout the bout, Miguel pulled his aces together and broke Zab down to score an 11th round victory. This kid is rising at welterweight and his left hook to the body is a telltale sign that he's here to stay.

The winner of this contest could possibly challenge the likes of Floyd Mayweather Jr if he succeeds in his fight with Ricky Hatton on December 8th 2007. Highly regarded as the most important fight of welterweight (147lbs) this year, the outcome of this fight could cause an earthquake of a situation for the division and its leaders.

With names like Paul Williams, Kermit Cintron, Floyd Mayweather, Ricky Hatton, Antonio Margarito, Zab Judah, Andre Berto, Joshua Clottey and Oscar De La Hoya, things could heat up in the next year!

    Man that's a great analysis!

Mayweather won't get in the ring with either Mosely or Cotto. Basically, whatever Hatton does that works, Cotto will do better. Whatever de la Hoya did that worked, Mosely can do better.
