I received a flyer for Planet Fitness several months ago. I was curious as to what Planet Fitness had to offer. They are a name brand fitness center located on US 1 in Port St. John. For a family to go there, it is unheard of. I was disappointed to find out there was no daycare facility, and worse, no pool. For all of you who do not need a place for the kids to stay, I highly recommend Planet Fitness due to price alone. There is no sign up fee and for either $10 or $20 a month, you can enjoy getting back into shape on a budget.
Looking harder at my gym choices, I narrowed it down to two. Parrish Medical Center's Fitness Center in Titusville, or the YMCA in Cocoa or northern Titusville. Both Gyms have daycare facilities for the children. I will say the Parrish Fitness Center is a newer building than the YMCA in Cocoa and the daycare is a little nicer. The YMCA's daycare is safe and the people have been there a long time, almost forever.
Being on a budget, I decided to go with the fitness center that would cost the least and still give me the workout I was searching for. I chose the YMCA in Cocoa. The equipment is great and it exercises every muscle imaginable. Some of the equipment is even set up in a way that is the optimum workout routine. I also like the privacy of the YMCA compared to the Fitness Center in Titusville. The Fitness Center is beside of Highway 50, Cheney Highway, and it is full of windows where anyone and everyone can see in. The YMCA in Cocoa is in a somewhat secluded area, and is on the second floor. It is really nice to be able to work out and not worry what others will see as you are moving.
If you are working with a limited income, the YMCA has a scholarship program that will help get you a membership. Regular cost for two adults and children is $75 a month. The Parrish Medical Center is a little more than that and their payment assistance is not as good. I am glad I chose the Y because they offer more programs than Parrish and most of them are included in your fee. It is really a good deal.
