Most Anticipated MMORPG Games of Fall/Winter 2010
These Games Have Created Quite the Stir Across the Net, but Are They Really Worth It?
Most Anticipated MMORPG Games of 2010: Final Fantasy XIV
Final Fantasy XIV is the type of MMORPG that all MMOs strive to be, it follows in a long line of great RPG games (The Final Fantasy series) which means it's sure to have a great and involving story. The only thing preventing me from picking up this great game on pre order is the unfortunate monthly cost. In this economy, I simply can't bring myself to pay for the Internet, buy the game, and pay monthly to play it too.
One can only hope that Square Enix will release this game as a free to play, but it is highly doubtful. There is a possibility that they may release FFXI as free to play however. Releasing FFXI could be used as a means of promoting the new FFXIV and reaching a larger audience.
Most Anticipated MMORPG Games of Fall/Winter 2010: Dragon Ball Online
Dragon Ball online is the first implementation of the massive Dragon Ball franchise in an MMO and it has been in the works for several years. With the Korean release going into beta last year, Dragon ball fans all over are anxiously awaiting this games release. Though this game doesn't use the same advanced realistic graphics some have come to expect from modern gaming, it takes a different path. This game looks to be a near perfect representation of the Dragon Ball world in which you can choose your race of the Namekians humans or even the Saiyans. The storyline fortunately does not revolve around the original Dragon Ball story like many of the other games did. The object of Dragon Ball online is to create a Dragon Ball world where you write the story. Dragon Ball Online is certainly worth the wait.
Most Anticipated MMORPG Games of Fall/Winter 2010: Dragon Nest
Dragon Nest is another game taking on the cartoonish anime styling that made the Dragon Ball franchise so great though this game has a complete story of its own and follows no particular Manga or Cartoon. What seems to make this game so thrilling is the combat system involving combos one can only hope that this also means incorporation of a gamepad control scheme better suited to the casual gamer bringing the MMO scene into the light of everyday people. Simply put, Dragon Nest is a game to look out for, I for one can't wait until its release.
Most Anticipated MMORPG Games of Fall/Winter 2010: DC Universe
Comic book fans will be ecstatic to know that they have not been left out of the current MMORPG trend, that is gaining popularity all across the net today, as DC universe is set to be released to the general public Nov 30th of this year 2010.
Many MMO games tend to push for old style game play, mid evil era combat, or martial arts, but there is a new generation of MMO in the works. The generation of, do anything, be anyone MMO ,designed to meet the demands and cater to the needs of nearly every group. DC Universe is no exception catering to the comic book crowd, the fans of Batman and other comics like it. In this MMO you not only choose your character and class, but you get to be a good guy or a bad guy. You can choose to fight with, or against Batman.
Most Anticipated MMORPG Games of Fall/Winter 2010: Need For Speed World
Need For Speed has been around for a long time, and this is probably one of the most desired features of the game. The ability to challenge people from all over the world to a race for pink slips, or just for fun. While I'm not sure exactly how much you could really call this an RPG, it definitely fits the bill for an MMO.
Though this isn't your typical MMORPG, if you appreciate the value of a good racing game then this is a must for you. Even RPG gamers can learn to appreciate the value of a good racing game, especially when it incorporates all the level up values found in modern RPGs. As you race competitions and explore the Need For Speed world, you will gain levels, and new driving skills, which will help you in competing against your opponents. In short, this is a Massively Multiplayer racing game with an RPG twist.
According to consumer review these are the titles that have captivated the MMO community at large for 2010 some of them perhaps only throw scantily clad women and others through their epic and interesting story lines like Final Fantasy and others simply appeal to a large demographic based on the story like Dragon Ball Online. I'm certainly not knocking Dragon Ball Online, but you have to wonder if it would have such a following where it not for the anime series.
