Most Anticipated RPG Games of Fall/Winter 2010: Dragon Age: Origins -- Witch Hunt - PC - 360 - PS3 -
Those of you who have been playing Dragon Age up to now already know of the magnitude of it's storyline with many add ons coming, finally the conclusion of this sage is to be released this September for PC, PS3, and 360, with a cost of only $7 for the final chapter in this saga. Those of you who have not yet started this saga I would recommend purchase it from your local gamestop as it is a marvel of an RPG. This game however, is not for the faint of heart. Blood gushes as you slice open your opponents, and violence is the norm depicting massive wars in their full gory reality.
Most Anticipated RPG Games of Fall/Winter 2010: Final Fantasy : The Four Heroes of Light - NDS -
The epic Final Fantasy series all started with it's foundation Final Fantasy 1 for the NES, followed by two sequels which didn't land on North American shores until their PSX remakes. This confused the numbering system and North American gamers at large, but now Square Enix has decided to take us back.
This is a journey back through the history of Final Fantasy, in the second ever true Final Fantasy sequel. The Four Heroes of Light returns us to that early era of the first Final Fantasy, with the same characters, and the same world, but a whole new story. Those who truly loved the original would do well to buy this game for the NDS in October of 2010. However, those who have no recollection of the first ever Final Fantasy game, may want to purchase a copy of Final Fantasy Origins for the PSX before delving into the plot of the original.
Most Anticipated RPG Games of Fall/Winter 2010: Fallout: New Vegas - PS3 - 360 - PC -
The Fallout series has amassed a long standing reputation for being one of the first of its kind, a series dedicated to life after disaster, the entire series spans across a time after a nuclear 'Fallout', hence the name. Fallout: New Vegas is sure to bring new things to table, and old fans of the series are eagerly awaiting its release in October of 2010
Most Anticipated RPG Games of Fall/Winter 2010: Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep - PSP -
Many have been eagerly awaiting this games release, though I'm not one of them, I still believe it deserves a spotlight due to the magnitude of fans it has brought into the RPG genre. Both RPG veterans and newbie's alike can get into this game, it features a reasonably involving storyline, and none of the complex game mechanics of the typical RPG game. All this making it easy for even the most novice of gamer to begin play right away, and the game includes cameo appearances of all kinds of Disney characters in combination with Final Fantasy characters.
This game at its core is a mixture of all the things that made the Final Fantasy series great, and Disney's adventurous history of characters. "A great game for the young, and the young at heart alike." The game is set to be released in September on the PSP, unfortunately I feel it may not match up to its predecessors due to its release on a portable platform.
Most Anticipated RPG Games of Fall/Winter 2010: Valkeria chronicles 2 - PSP -
At first glimpse I had expected Valkeria Chronicles to be a remake or sequel to Valkerie Profile on both the PSX and PS2. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. However, that doesn't make this any less of an entertaining RPG game. As a matter of fact, it may even make this game even more intriguing, with an anime cartoonized graphics system, and strategic RPG game play, combined with an active strategy combat system, this is sure to be a hit in anyone's collection.
Unfortunately it's a PSP release, where as its counterpart Valkeria Chronicles 1 was designed for play on the PS3, a much more powerful gaming platform that was built with the big screen in mind. The game is set to be released in August of 2010 for all those interested.
All these great games are sure to be great additions to your collection of RPG titles, and mine. While some of these games may differ from other peoples most anticipated games, heavy research was put into finding what the majority of people where anticipating this year, and this is the conclusion of that research. It is a true shame that there are so few to choose from for this fall... Though things look a bit more promising for next year, with great titles like Xeno Blade for the NDS to be released.
