How to Ruin Your Marriage

Cheating is probably the number one way to end a marriage. It would be the lowest thing a person could do to their spouse. Cheating is an act in which someone dishonors the commitment that two people have made. In marriage you commit to your spouse that you will be trustworthy, loyal, and faithful by respecting their wishes. Cheating is not just sexual, if you are spending more time with someone other than your spouse, buying expensive gifts, eating out, basically focusing your efforts on someone else to gain self pleasure, this could be considered cheating. This can break down a marriage and eventually lead to divorce.

Lying can ruin a marriage in many ways. No one wants to be with someone they can't trust. If your spouse can't trust you to go to the mall or grocery store by yourself without trying to pick someone up, they may not stick around for long. Not trusting someone can create internal conflicts, they will always be wondering if you are doing what you are supposed to be. Once you get caught lying, it is very hard to earn that trust back. Make sure you tell the truth at all times, you never know when you may have to relive the past; hopefully you remember what your original story was.

Not spending time with family is another way to ruin a marriage. You got married so you could spend the rest of your life with your spouse, not just spend time with them when there is nothing to do. Think about the kids too, they may begin to wonder why you are not home as much. They may start asking questions, which will create more tension with your spouse. Your spouse may begin to wonder if there is someone else in your life if you are never home with them. They may begin to feel neglected or useless and start meeting new people themselves. This would be another tension builder. Everyday you spend away from your spouse, contributes to your already ruined marriage.

Drinking is ok if you can handle it properly. You may ruin your relationship with your spouse if you drink too much. Think about how you act when you have too much to drink. Do you call your spouse names, disrespect them, and act out in ridiculous ways? If you are intoxicated while you mistreat your spouse, this will ruin your marriage. Drinking could be dangerous for both you and your spouse. If you hurt yourself, someone else or your spouse, your relationship will definitely be affected in a negative way.

Money could be the root of all evil if it begins to ruin your marriage. Don't let money control what you do or how you act towards your spouse. You didn't get married for money, if you did, your marriage was ruined before you said "I do". Be happy with what you have and what you have accomplished together. Respect your spouse by not spending all the money, especially if they are the one supporting you. Take the time to budget your money as a family. Make sure to involve your spouse in major financial decisions. If you want to ruin your marriage, go buy a car or expensive jewelry with the money your spouse earned.

There are many ways to ruin a marriage. These are just some of the more common causes in my opinion. Think about what you do and how you act toward your spouse. It could mean the difference between a long happy marriage and a short stressful relationship.
