When most people speak of Philadelphia, they speak of the "City of Brotherly Love" however, this great city has more to offer than meets the eye. One of the hidden gems of this city is their Farmers Markets. If you plan on visiting the Philadelphia area in search of the freshest produce, look no further than the popular Farmers Markets. Below I have listed the most popular Farmers Markets in Philadelphia.

Clark Park Farmers Market: Clark Park Farmers Market is the number one farmers market on the west side of Philly. If you're looking for an extensive color of produce, fresh homemade pies or different types of ethnic food, Clark Park is the place to go. Depending on what season it is, you will pay extra cheap prices on the freshest fruits and vegetables. During the winter season, specialty teas such as mint and apple cider are available. This farmers market has some of the best variety of produce to choose from. There are different colors and shades of bell peppers, grapes and zucchini. While the berries are a little expensive during the season, they are well worth it as they stay fresh for long periods of time if preserved right. During your tour of the market, check out the fresh bread section as it offers a variety of breads such as vegetable, pumpkin and carrot breads. Even though the market closes as 1pm, you don't need to rush to get there early just to park, there is plenty available on the street.

Headhouse Farmers Market: The Headhouse Farmers Market has a terrific selection of fresh fruits. While there vegetables are of high grade as well, this market specializes in offering local products as well as produce. This is the largest outdoor market that the city of Philadelphia has to offer. The vast shopping area of Headhouse will have you wanting to come back week after week. Here you will be able to get locally made honey and syrup as well as visit the Mexican, Japanese and roasted Cornish hen stands. Parking here gets taken up very quickly so make sure to get there early if you don't want to be searching for hours.

Location: 2nd & Lombard st., Philadelphia, PA Hours: Sun 8am-1pm

Philadelphia Farmers Market: While this market is like your typical farmers market, they excel in offering the freshest selection of dairy products as well as special exotic fruits never seen before. Take for instance the purple cauliflower or giant Asian pears selection; it's truthfully a one of a kind spectacle. The same vendors and farmers seem to be there week after week and are very helpful when it comes to answering questions and giving free samples away. The prices are very cheap compared to some farmers markets and this market is always guaranteed to be less crowed than the others listed above. Their small parking lot fills up fast so as always, get there early if you want the best selection!
