Most Popular Wedding Dates for Winter 2008

If you are planning your wedding and want to do something special, pick a special holiday to plan your day. There are a few of the obvious, but there are some wacky holidays you can use, too.

Valentines Day February 14

Valentines day is all about love and is probably the most popular wedding date. It is easy to conjure up romance with a Valentines Day wedding, so we will not spend a lot of time on this one. Valentines Day is all love, romance, candy and flowers. This day was made for weddings.

Leap Year February 29, 2008

Once every four years we celebrate a Leap Year. As you probably know, every fourth year one day is added to February so that our calendar year is the same, or nearly the same, as the astronomical year. Therefore, every fourth year we have a February 29th. What a great day to be married! Think of all the excuses you would have for forgetting your anniversary...what, was it this year? Did you know that February 29th was also known as Bachelor's day?

Ground Hog Day February 2
Why this day you ask? The Ground Hog symbolizes to us, the coming of spring, and a new beginning. A great change. Isn't that what a marriage is? It is a new beginning, a change in the life of two people as they start a new family.

St. Patrick's Day March 17
Are you Irish? This could be your wedding day. Do it all up in green and lucky four leaf clovers. It wouldn't hurt a wedding to bless it wit a wee bit o' luck!

Christmas Day December 25
This is a great day for a wedding, (the day my parents chose!). The decoration ideas here are limitless and less expensive than traditional wedding decorations. Remember, if this is the day you choose, you should speak with the people you would like to attend. Christmas time is a busy time for families and Christmas Day is a tough one when trying to complete a committed guest list. More so if your guests have children.

Kwanza December 26 - January 1
Celebrate your wedding with an awareness of your ethnicity. Decorate all in red, black and green and make it a week-long celebration. As with Christmas, this could also be a more difficult time to get a commitment out of your tentative guests.

Winter Solstice December 21 or 22
The longest night of the year! No better night out of 365 for your honeymoon to begin! Need I say more? Seriously, according to www.brownielocks.com Winter Solstice is a day to celebrate the beginning of a new cycle of growth, a new cycle of light.

Super Bowl Sunday February 3
Yes, I know...but can you think of a better way for him to prove just how much he loves you? And just think of how much money you will save on your reception. All you need is a television, some beer, sandwiches and popcorn.

I'm glad I didn't get married during a leap year. Imagine only celebrating your anniversary once every 4 years!

LOL about the last one. Talk about stressing a new marriage.
