Most Unique Indoor Houseplants

Houseplants are great additions to your home. They add instant decoration to your house and make it seem more homey and fresh at the same time. However, you cannot stick just any plant in your home. You must choose plants that fare well indoors. Otherwise, they will just wither and die, and you certainly don't want that to happen. Here is a list of plants that flourish indoors and serve well as houseplants.

Coleus: Coleus plants grow wonderfully indoors. They grow upwards almost in the shape of a small tree, and their leaves are palm-sized, almost heart-shaped leaves, and they sprout long stems covered with tiny flowers at the top of them. You can get several different varieties of colors in coleuses. I have a Chocolate Mint Coleus that's just lovely. The leaves are a dark chocolate color outlined in green so it looks like a chocolate mint, hence its title Chocolate Mint Coleus, and it has tiny purple sprouts at its head. Coleuses don't need loads of sunlight. That's why they grow well indoors. However, I try to place mine close to a window so that they do get some sun. They only need to be watered when the soil feels dry, about once a week. They're not huge maintenance. However, they do shed a few leaves every now and then, so you'll have to pick them up from the floor when they do. You can get one of these plants at Home Depot for about seven dollars.Dusty Miller. A Dusty Miller is a very unique plant. It's a frosty colored plant and is especially ideal at Christmas time. However, it looks lovely year round as well. It has unusual shaped fronds that are a dusty white. It fares very well indoors in a location where it can have some sunlight. It needs very little water, only whenever the soil is dry. I have found it to be a great table or shelf accent. You can get one of these at Lowe's or Home Depot for about five dollars, sometimes cheaper.

Spider Plant: Spider plants grow very easily. They look much like really long grass sprouts. They grow thick and full and will easily add a pop of green to your house. Plus, they'll grow just about anywhere you put them. They only need a little bit of water when they're dry, too, so they're not hard to maintain. They look really great in a decorative pot. The most you might have to do is shape it every now and then. Another thing that's really great about these is that oftentimes you can get these outside in your yard, so you don't have to buy one. However, if you do buy one from a nursery, they usually only costs about five bucks.

Those are three great indoor plants. They all flourish wonderfully indoors and add decoration and beauty to your home. Plus, they're very easy to take care of as well.
