This is the worst article I haver ever read!!!!

To the person wanting to know which restaurants to try, if you are talking about Valentine's Day (which is what this article is referring to), I'd much rather have someone make me a candlelight dinner at home than go to a crowded, over priced restaurant (as they all are on valentine's day). Dress up nice, have your valentine dress nice, and have the dinner ready and waiting at home, including a nice dessert. Dessert can be purchased if you aren't sure of your baking skills, but even just melting some chocolate in a bowl and having sliced fruit and pound cake makes a very easy and delicious chocolate fondu. If you have kids and no where for them to go, ask a single friend or co-worker if you can borrow their place for 3 or 4 hours (you could pay them to watch your kids). Of course, if you are married and you and your spouse never go out, you best be making reservations soon and get out of the house! Location doesn't really matter as long as you show that you thought ahead.

THOSE OF YOU TALKING ABOUT AUSTIN....GET THE HELL OUT. GO BACK TO THE NORTH OR WEST COAST AND UR MILLION DOLLAR HOMES. WHEN I FIRST GOT MY APARTMENT BACK IN 93, THE RENT WAS 3OO.OO A MONTH WITH CABLE AND ELECTRICITY PAID. NOW THAT ALL OF THESE OUT OF TOWNERS HAVE MOVED HERE THE COST OF LIVING HAS GONE THROUGH THE ROOF. SO YOU PEOPLE DON'T COMPLAIN ABOUT BEING HERE CAUSE U CAN ALWAYS LEAVE. AUSTIN, TEXAS IS THE GREATEST CITY IN THE WORLD. IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, GET OUT!!!!

Thank you CORY for your comment. (Scroll back to 2/2/12) The hypocricy of this town never ceases to amaze me. On the surface, Austin tries to sell itself as a diverse town, that is accepting of different types of individuals and lifestyles. Once you dig a little deeper, however, you find that is not the case. Get over yourself people! Oh, and just in case you were wondering, I am not a native Austinite. I, like many people, moved here from somewhere else. And guess what? I'm not going anywhere! I really enjoy living here. I shop here (don't worry I do support our local businesses), I dine here, I pay for city services here, and I pay my taxes here. Austin is a wonderful place to call home, but it is by no means Mecca. Austin is in somewhat of an identity crisis; the local "natives" that don't want anyone to move here (kind of hard to have a diverse mix of residents if you don't let anyone in right?) vs. those who want to move to a place that encourages different points of view (only to find a "Not welcome" sign when they arrive). Grow up.

DK Sushi on S. First or Mushishino (sp?) on MoPac, New India Cuisine on S. Congress, Hopdoddy Burger Bar on S. Congress, Texas Land & Cattle on N. Lamar, Buenos Aires Cafe or Blue Dahlia on the east side. Sao Paulo on San Jacinto. Wow, there are a million, literally a million, better places with more charm and reasonable prices than the ones listed in this article. When did food critics for hire come to Austin? We should ask them nicely to leave us alone.

really, what fool wrote this article. NORM, yep, I am sticking with the norm. These places all suck, unless you are a pansy, then go for it. We do need to turn this back into the TEXAS State Capital city and do things TEXAS style. Enough of this whimpering, whining, #$%$ style. Get back to wherever you came from, be it, CA, NY, or whatever country.

Haddingtons is a great place. 601 west 6th street. They have some awesome stained glass windows, of course I have to say that because I made them. Any way the food is amazing and it's a great friendly atmosphere.
