Sore Throat

For a sore throat, my favorite home remedy is a hot toddy. A few other remedies are to eat foods with a lot of garlic, and gargle with salt water. Remember, that Vitamin C is vital when your immune system is down.

Head Cold/ Flu

Essential Oils are fabulous for sicknesses. Take Eucalyptus Oil and rub on chest or add to bathwater. The Eucalyptus will clear out your airways and help you breathe better. If you have the flu, remember to drink lots of fluids and take lots of vitamins to build your immune system. Remember, chicken noodle soup cures everything!

Fever

As soon as you realize you have a fever, take a warm bath with essential oils such as oregano oil or eucalyptus oil. Drink Chamomile or Ginger tea and remember to drink lots of fluids. The quicker you break the fever, the quicker you will feel better. A Hot Toddy will help you sleep and get the rest you need to rebuild your immune system.

Eye Infection

There is nothing worse than an eye infection. Honey will truly heal your eye infection. It will sting so be prepared. Just add a little honey to your eye. Other solutions are a mixture of lemon and water. It will sting as you apply to the eye but will kill off the infection.

Nausea

Any kind of mint works wonderful for nausea. Herbal teas are wonderful as they are soothing as well as calming to the nausea. Add some honey to the hot brew and you have a winner!

Favorite Home Remedy Prevention

In our home, we do a few things as soon as we realize sickness is coming on. Vitamin C chewable tables are always in our home, especially for those weeks when everyone gets sick. We also make soup with lots of garlic. Homemade chicken noodle soup is a number #1 cure for colds and the flu. Also, Cinnamon oil, Eucalyptus Oil, and Oregano Oil are fabulous to keep on hand. We have to replenish our Aloe Vera plant at least once a year because we use it for just about every ailment.

Home remedies are important to moms and dads because we don't always have the money to spend on medicine. The truth is that often times it is cheaper and more beneficial to use a home remedy as we can really kick the sickness before it has time to really infiltrate our bodies.
