The hotel itself was supposedly only 11 miles from the track and since we didn't plan on spending much time there, we thought Motel 6 would do the job. It was also fairly cheap considering it was NASCAR race weekend, $34.99 for the first night and then it went up to $79.99.
We arrived on Thursday night and were instantly surprised by just how grimy the hotel looked on the outside. It was desperately in need of a upgrade, but we didn't have a lot of hotel choices by then. Inside I discovered that one of the employees brings a dog to work with him and they let the dog run free around this Motel 6 Indianapolis location.
The inside of our room was fine though it didn't take long for us to find some problems. The telephone in our room was broken and had been pieced back together and they had no internet access. On top of that, there was only one electrical outlet in the entire room and the television was plugged into that. There was another in the bathroom, which made things interesting since we both had cell phones and digital cameras to charge.
We checked into the Indianapolis Motel 6 on Thursday night and took showers that night. A note in the room said to leave all dirty towels in the shower and the maid would take care of them. We left early Friday morning and came back late Friday night to find that there was no maid service whatsoever. The trash hadn't been taken out and the dirty towels were still left in the shower.
They finally sent a maid in on Saturday, but apparently she does little for her pay. I left a closed suitcase on top of the bed and they left behind a note stating that if personal effects were left on the bed, they couldn't make it. However my friend's bed had absolutely nothing on it and they didn't make hers either. They also once again left behind all of the trash and didn't bring clean towels. The real topper was that the maid had knocked over my makeup bag in the bathroom and left everything laying in the middle of the floor.
The Indianapolis Motel 6 is without a doubt the worst hotel I've ever seen in my life. The staff doesn't care at all about the customers or their safety. We actually saw a man urinating in the parking lot and no one even batted an eye. I would never stay at this hotel again and I think Motel 6 should do something about it.
