Mother and Baby Halloween Costume Story

One of the many things that is so great about parenting and motherhood is that you can be silly. You have this built in excuse to goof around and act like a kid. I acted like a kid before I became a mother and people thought I was weird. I act like a kid now and I'm called a good mother. Funny the way that works.

This funny behavior can follow us throughout the year and join us on October 31, Halloween. The first Halloween I had my son I decided to dress him up in a Halloween costume to look like a little old man and I went as a baby. It was a lot of fun, kind of like switching the roles with my child. All of the houses we went to got a big kick out of his little old man costume, but I don't think very many of them actually made the connection to me being dressed as the baby.

The funny part of that Halloween is my son was too young to eat the candy, and I was probably to old to be out trick-or-treating. But, with the costumes we had on I was able to pull it off, which is a good thing because you know how breast feeding mothers love to enjoy their snacks!

Motherhood and parenting has taught me that it is ok to get down and silly, the bigger kid you are, the more you can relate to your kids. Halloween costumes are no exception to this rule.
