Mother and Daughter at Eighteen

A Poem

Mag Inzire
"I can't wait until I am eighteen," is all she would say
I will move out and be on my own
No more rules or permission to ask

"I can't wait until she is eighteen," is all she would say
She will move out and be on her own
No more rules or permission to give

"Today I am eighteen," is all she thought
I am finally all grown up and able to do what I want
This independence is great

"Today she is eighteen," is all she thought
She is finally all grown up and able to do what she wants
This independence is great

"I wish I was eighteen again," is all she would say
I would not rush out and leave her all alone
I would beg for rules and ask for permission
I wish I was eighteen again just to see her once more

"I wish she was eighteen again," is all she thought
I would tell her that it was alright to be on her own and I was never left alone
I wish she was eighteen again so I could tell her that no matter what
I will always be there for her and that one day she will see me again

"Together eighteen," is all they thought...

rinse and repeat! I don't wish to be 18 again, it was far too stressful worrying about things that don't even matter
