Mother-Daughter Summer Shopping--Are You Nuts?
Summer Shopping with Your Teenage Daughter Does Not Have to Be Dreadful
From the teenage perspective:
When it's time to shop for summer clothing, think bright and bold! It's time to get trendy adding colors and cute accessories for a summer wardrobe. From tops to bottoms to accessories, shopping can be hassle-free if we know what to look for.
Summer tops are a fun way to layer and stand out with cool patterns and bright colors. Layered tops are a cute alternative to plain tops that look like everyone else's. There are many ways to layer. Two camis or tank tops in vibrant colors or patterns make for a great sea shore or poolside outfit. Shirts with a deep-V can be partnered with a cute lace trim cami. Also, why wear just a tank top when you can spice it up and add 10 times the fun? Combining summery tanks and camis with half-jackets are perfect for evenings out and cool, summer breezes. Half-jackets come in a variety of styles including multi-colored stripes, polka dots, and geometric prints. When shopping, don't forget that bright colors are summery and fresh. While it's fun to show individuality with tops and blouses, the bottom half of an outfit can have just as much pizzazz.
There is a wide variety of bottoms for the summer, and again, layering is cute and trendy. Leggings aren't only for winter; they add interest in a summer outfit anytime also. Instead of going with the longer leggings, a pair of knee-length or right-below-the-knee leggings under a denim miniskirt is cooler and cuter. Leggings also come in vibrant colors and fun patterns. Another way to wear a summer skirt is to go with a longer, flowing skirt. These can be dressed up or down. Skirts are great for summer, but what about bike rides and theme parks? Shorts are the way to go. The variety of styles for shorts this summer is exciting. Bermuda shorts are great to wear with longer tops and high heels. You can get them in denim, crazy patterns, or colorful plaids. Short shorts are great for walking along the beach or casual get-togethers with friends. With a complete outfit together, only thing will be missing-accessories!
Accessories make the outfit! They can help make the transfer from day to evening-wear. Shoes are one of those must-have accessories! Why shoes? Shoes are a way to let your personality shine through. Flip-flops, wedge heels, and stylin' tennis shoes are like the icing on the cake! Shoes are one way to accessorize, but belts are also important. Sashes or belts in summery colors always add flavor to an outfit. You can get them with sparkles, beads, and embroidery. Sashes and ribbons add that extra flare, but jewelry always adds the sparkle. Bright earrings in different shapes and sizes are always cool in the summer. Layering with long, beaded necklaces in radiant, colors adds visual interest in an outfit. Mix and match colorful bracelets for the same layering effect. Last but not least, simple but flattering hair tops off a hip, cool look. Getting ready will be quick and painless as long as it's kept simple with cute ribbons and barrettes. Ponytails and pigtails are a fabulous way to keep cool when running around town.
Remember to look for colors that stand out, ways to layer, and patterns and accessories that fit your daughter's personality. The whole idea is to have fun adding visual interest in a cool, hip way!
