The cigarette burned solitarily
A flickering brand on black asphalt,
Discarded by humanity
But still warm.
The wind swept low,
Earth inhaled and took a drag,
Savored it in airy cheeks,
And exhaled,
Blowing out a cloud of wispy flavor.
Sated, the wind moved on.
