Quote of the Week, Mother Teresa
Mother Teresa was born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu we think on August 26, 1910 in Macedonia although her family were Albanian.

When she was 18, she left her parents and went to become a nun, although she knew from the age of 12 that she wanted to serve God as a missionary. At first, she was in the order of Sisters of Loreto, and Irish branch of the nunnery.

She was sent to India where she was a teacher, but worried about all the poor and starving who had no help or medical assistance. She started an open-air school for the poorest or the children in Calcutta. Soon she had many people who offer to help and give of their time and money.

In 1950 she got permission form the pope to start her own order called the "The Missionaries of Charity", where there are sisters and brothers working together to help the poor; even a priest branch was established in her order in 1984.

She was a blessing to those poor unfortunate people who live and lived in poverty, caring for the poor, establishing in the course of her lifetime missionaries, orphanages, schools and even a leper colony.

She received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 as well as other awards. She took the award money she got and always used it on behalf of the poor, as well as to fund her centers. These centers are now all over the world and number more than 25 today.

She died at the age of 87 in her beloved India.

"We can do no great things; only small things with great love."

This was a beautiful tribute..there was many bad rumors about this lady (loosing her faith) at one time..even a book, I heard., that was printed after her death, when she could not defend herself.....she was a wonderful mother to many underprivilidge children in the poorest and most dangerous places in the world !...

LOL ... I wondered what the "loop and sick" meant but didn't want to sound like a dummy by asking. I'm glad you cleared it up in a comment :-D
