Mother of Two is a Victim of Domestic Violence

She was only 35 years old. She was the Mother of two children. She didn't have to die. If only someone had made the call. The call that could have saved her life. Police say she was a victim of domestic violence.

According to The Mansfield (Ohio) News Journal, Carla Fliger was found dead in her Cherry Hill home at 3 a.m. on Friday, September 19. She had been beaten to death.

According to Mansfield Police, Fenton Casper, in trouble for past alcohol-related issues, is being held at the Richland County Jail on $1 million cash bond, charged with aggravated murder.

A coroner's autopsy has revealed that Fliger died of blunt force trauma to the head. There were injuries to other parts of her body, but trauma to the head is was what killed her, said one investigator.

Domestic violence is a pervasive social and criminal problem in the U.S. According to www.endabuse.org it is estimated that 960,000 to 3 million women are abused by a spouse or a boyfriend each year. That's a broad range. A lot of domestic violence is unreported. Nearly one third of American Women have been physically or sexually abused at some point in their lives.

Thirty percent of Americans say they know a woman who has been abused in the past year.

More than 3 women are murdered by their abusers every day in the U.S.

Fliger didn't have to die. Silence contributed to her death. Her life could have been saved.
