Motherhood: Joy, Laughter, and Stinky Diapers

I can still remember the day I gave birth to my beautiful baby girl. The first words out of my mouth as the doctor pulled her from my womb were, "Aww, she's cute!" Yes, I had often pondered and hoped during my pregnancy, for a beautiful, healthy baby. I got what I wanted. However, little did I know when gazing into those warm brown eyes, that such a precious gift could produce such a stinky diaper! The first few weeks of her life were very neutral when it came to bowel movement odors. However, around month 2 is when things really kicked off! I specifically remember one day, it was a Thursday afternoon to be exact- I couldn't help but notice an odor of enormous capacity. As I pulled down the diaper, there it was, a "two-toned catastrophe!" Automatically, as stupid as it sounds, the song "867-5309" by the popular eighties band "Tommy Tutone" began to play in my head. Laughter overtook me as I hummed the song while cleaning her up and fitting on a clean diaper. To this day, I still refer back to that day and smile with "two-toned" delight.

Although stinky diapers sometimes tickle me, there are still those few times when I'm more than not thrilled! For example, like when my baby is sitting in her car seat, and all of a sudden begins to wriggle like a little worm, while simultaneously smiling and squealing. Then comes the smell. Oh, and to my disappointment, upon lifting her, I glance down into the car seat, only to discover that she's left her "mark". As a result, I have the cleanest car seat in existence!

Despite the many diaper fiascos, I wouldn't trade her for anything. She's my pride and joy, and I look forward to many more "two-toned catastrophes"!
