Mother's Cocoa Bumpers Crunchy Corn Cereal can be found in health food stores and natural sections of grocery stores. It is distributed by The Quaker Oats Company. The cereal looks similar to Cocoa Puffs. There are 9 servings in the 10.6-oz box. I paid $3.49 for the box.
Mother's cereals have been around for a while. The company was introduced as Mother's Oats in 1893. Mother's seems very committed to making healthy foods. The company makes a variety of healthy hot and ready-to-eat cereals and rice cakes. According to their website, all of Mother's cereals are all natural, with no artificial flavors, colors, preservatives or additives. Their cold cereals are sweetened with unsulphured molasses and honey which are more nutritious than refined sugar.
The Bumpers line of Mother's cereals is geared toward providing flavors that kids will love. In addition to Cocoa Bumpers, the company also makes Peanut Butter Bumpers and Graham Bumpers. The back of the Bumper boxes have puzzles and quizzes for children to enjoy.
Nutrition Information
The first ingredient listed for Cocoa Bumpers is corn flour. The cereal also includes oat flour. It is sweetened with unsulphured molasses and honey. The box states that the cereal is all natural and low fat. There is no added fat like you will find in some cereals.
Each one-cup serving provides 120 calories, 2 grams of protein, 1 gram of fiber and 15 grams of sugar. One serving provides a daily value of 4% of Calcium, 8% of Iron and 2% of Vitamin E.
Taste
I ate this cereal with rice milk and I really enjoyed it. Although I think this cereal tastes somewhat similar to how I remember Cocoa Puffs tastes, it has a special flavor of its own. It has a rich, chocolate flavor and isn't overly sweet. I found that it stayed crunchy right down to the bottom of the bowl. The milk left in the bottom of the bowl after I was finished turned a chocolate color and flavor, which I really liked.
Final Analysis
I really enjoyed this cereal and will definitely buy it again when I am looking for a chocolate-flavored cereal or when I want the extra special taste of a "kid's" cereal. I think that this cereal is a healthier choice than some of the other cereals found in the grocery store. I like the fact that it has no added fat and that it is sweetened with molasses and honey rather than refined sugar. If I had children, I would definitely purchase this cereal for them as a healthier option than some of the more traditional kids cereals.

Thanks for the details. We might give this a try.
Sounds good :) Sheri
Great review! Looks healthier than Cocoa Puffs!
Good review. This doesn't sound like the sort of cereal I would care for though.

Sounds and looks good to me.
Another honest and super review :)
Good review, Sharon. I'm not much into chocolate cereals and never particularly cared for Cocoa Puffs so I doubt I'll try this one. Moms with "chocoholic" kids may really appreciate a healthier alternative to Cocoa Puffs, though. Thanks for sharing.

i can see where kids would like this :)
