Brooklyn, New York Offers it All for Moms

For Mother's Day brunch this year it would be great to enjoy it in Brooklyn, New York. Why? I can't believe the great smorgasbord (pardon the pun) of opportunities for various Mother's Day brunch opportunities.

To start with, you can take mom on a yacht cruise on a yacht named The Manhattan. This is a three hour cruise that encompasses The Upper West Side, Battery Park, Governor's Island; the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island; parts of Brooklyn and Queens and the entire New York Skyline.

The view of this great tour is seen from a 360 degree rear deck. While on board you will be privy to a complimentary drink and a family style Mother's Day brunch including bagels, muffins fruit and coffee.

Some additional information includes the fact that the cruise often sells out early; there are no refunds on tickets; there is no age requirement but under 18 requires an adult and the cruise leaves from Chelsea Pier at 11:00 a.m. on Mother's Day. The cost per ticket is $85. It seems like a wonderful event.

There is a great chance to enjoy international cuisine for brunch at Sushi Samba including Yellowtail Sashimi, Tuna Jalapeno and Sushi Shrimp (Japanese); Hostia Melted Cheese Crisps, Farofa Crusted Shrimp and Churrasco Skewer (Brazil); Yellowtail Tiridito and Chicken Anticucho (Peru) and "Sushisamba" so named by choosing several entrees from the above list.

The cost per adult is $15 and the cost per child is $8. Sushi Sambi is open at 11:30 a.m. for Mother's Day brunch and is located at 87 7th avenue South. While not specified, based on restaurant offerings I might suggest dress casual.

It is difficult to find full information for The Craft Bar Restaurant, however, I wanted to add a place one could dress up and go to Mother's Day brunch or go in the evening and have a very expensive meal. The restaurant is located at 43 east 19th Street. I would dress up for this restaurant and expect to pay about $50 up and perhaps $25 up per person for Mother's day brunch. As I said hours for Mother's day brunch aren't listed so I would call at 212-780-0880.

The Bathazar Bakery offers above average breakfast food for brunch including Eggs Benedict and Brioche French Toast but also serving such dishes as Smoked Salmon and Beef Stroganoff. These dishes are all around $20 and the restaurant is definitely upscale. You are going to pay about $30 and up per person but the reviews for this restaurant are well above average. Brunch is offered Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until four in the afternoon. The restaurant is located at Spring and Crosby.

The Cub Room, voted the most romantic restaurant in 2006 offers a dining room, café and bar. Upscale in decorum, it serves brunch, great for Mother's day brunch, from 10 a.m. to five in the afternoon. While eclectic in offerings, the brunch menu is reasonable at $11 per entrée. The restaurant is located at 131 Sullivan Street.

If French Cuisine is what mom wants for Mother's Day brunch then perhaps Culinary Concepts by Jean Georges at 270 Lafayette Street is the place to take her. It is obvious from the information available that this restaurant is going to cost some money and is certainly one that you would want to dress for when in attendance. Entrees include Roasted Chicken, Roasted Duck, New York Strip and Grilled Lamb Chops. I recommend calling them for information at 212-488-1545, and, this is something I listed because it is often hard to get good French food and this name is worldwide.

While food is always the center of attention for mom on Mother's Day, I thought we should include at least one event that singled out the mom who loves the outdoors especially when Brooklyn is home to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens which is open from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. The Garden is located at 1000 Washington Avenue in Brooklyn.

Of course there are many, many more places to celebrate Mother's Day brunch in Brooklyn, New York, however, the above places are guaranteed to give mom a wonderful day.
