Mother's Day Brunch in Columbus

The time is near to celebrate the woman who made you who you are today, the one who gave you life, the one who carpooled, mended scraped knees and broken hearts, who cooked a warm meal and worried if you were late for supper...a mother's work is never done so the least you could do is take her out to eat. It's never too early to make reservations so don't put it off till the last minute. Restaurants book quickly for Mother's Day (May 11th this year), especially the most popular time range of 11:30 to 1:30. You don't want to be stuck with a 10 am reservation if you think mom would like to sleep in (for once). Brunch will be served at the OSU Fawcett Center ballroom at 2400 Olentangy River Road from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm. Call 614-496-2387 for reservations. The brunch menu is quite extensive and includes 5 types of salad ranging from basic mixed greens to Nicoise to Pea, Farfalle, and Artichoke salad. There will be carving stations with beef and turkey, sausage and bacon, salmon, and chicken. For vegetarians, there will be an omelet station, freshly made Belgian waffles with various toppings (a kid favorite), assorted cheeses and fruits, and bell peppers with orzo stuffing. Of course there will also be a selection of desserts (if you managed to save room) and choice of beverages. Pricing is $24.00 per person, children 5-10 years of age are $8.50, and those under 5 are free. A 15% gratuity will be added to all checks and there is plenty of free parking in the adjacent lot.
You really can't go wrong with any Cameron Mitchell restaurant which feature elegant ambience, high level of service, and attention to detail. Several are celebrating with Mother's Day brunch. From 10:00 am to 2:30 pm, Cameron's American Bistro at 2185 W. Dublin Granville Rd. is serving a brunch buffet featuring assorted pastries, eggs, antipasto, caramelized bacon, and something for the kids, vegetarians, and French bistro lovers in your group, French toast. Cameron Mitchell's Columbus Fish Market (where the fish is delivered fresh daily) is also featuring a brunch buffet at both of their locations. From 10:00 am to 3:00 pm over 35 items will be offered including carving stations with roast beef and ham, cedar planked salmon, crab cakes, and Belgium waffle and omelet bars for the vegetarians. Especially for kids will be a chocolate fountain and smoothie bar. Adults are $24.95 and kids $12.95. The legendary Bexley Monk on E. Main St. presents an extensive brunch from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. For the vegetarians there will be various salads (including potato, tomato, pasta, and Caesar), an array of fruits, sautéed vegetable dishes, potatoes, rice pilaf, and for vegetarians and kids alike, and a Belgian waffle station. There will be tilapia, pork loin, roast beef, chicken, eggs, and just in case you're not counting Weight Watcher's points, there will be an array of cakes, cheesecakes, cookies, and brownies. Adults will pay $22.95, seniors $19.95, and children under 12 $12.95. If you're in the mood for something a little different, try an Indian buffet which has many dishes for vegetarians. Taj Palace Indian Restaurant at 3794 Fishinger Blvd will serve a buffet featuring tandoori chicken, galab jamun (deep fried sweet dough), saag paneer (spinach, cheese, and curry dish), kofta (meatballs), and rice pudding from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm. Cost is only $8.95 and $4.95 for children 8 and younger. All mothers will receive a free flower.
New India Restaurant at 5226 Bethel Center Mall will be offering a buffet from 11:30 am to 3 pm featuring vegetarian and meat dishes, chutney, and dessert. Mothers will receive a free soft drink. Cost is $7.99; $3.99 to $5.99 for children 3 and older. No reservations are needed.
The 94th Aero Squadron is a fun place to eat because it's located between runways at the Columbus International Airport and you can view planes take off and land through large windows. The World War I- and II- themed restaurant has carving stations with prime rib, roast beef and ham, mussels, crab legs, smoked salmon, and shrimp. Potatoes and other assorted veggies, waffles and fruit, and pasta station for the vegetarians in your group.
