Mother's day photo Jigsaw puzzle- This is a great craft for Mother's day because even young kids can make it with a little help from an adult.
You will need:
2 copies of a Cute Photo
Glue
Heavy Cardboard (can be cut from a cardboard box)
Scissors
A small box
First start by cutting the cardboard to the size of the photo. Then take one copy of the photo and glue it down to the cardboard. Use the scissors to cut the cardboard into curved jigsaw shapes. If the pieces aren't sticking to the cardboard well you can put an extra coat of clear glue on top. Then take the second picture and glue it to the top of the box. The box can then be a storage container for the jigsaw puzzle.
Mother's day picture frames- This a great because they are personal and an easy craft for mother's day. Mom can even pt a picture in the frame from this years mother day so she will always remember it.
You will need:
A plain picture frame
glue
Embellishments from a scrap-booking store
Acrylic paints
You first need to decide what you want the picture frame to say. Short simple phrases are best such as your moms name, or "I love you". Next take the acrylic paint and paint the words onto the frame. If you don't like to paint free hand you can use a stencil to make the words look perfect. If your helping a small child do this and they can't paint just have them put hand prints on the frame. Next take the embellishments and glue them onto the frame. Hearts, "# 1 mom, flowers, and buttons are all perfect embellishments. You can personalize this even more by putting on embellishment that have to do with something you mom likes. If your mom is a teacher you could put an apple or is she loves to sew you can put buttons and thimble's. Finish the frame by putting in a favorite picture, or leave it empty so mom can put a picture from this year in the frame.
Mother's day soap- This is a very simple way to make personalized soaps. If you have older kids you can get glycerin and make soaps from scratch. But this is a easy craft project that everyone will love.
You will need:
A few bars of soap
Acrylic paints
A disposable paint brush
Wax ( you can use canning wax or you can melt a white candle)
Let your kids use the acrylic paints to paint whatever they want on the soaps. You can make mother's day soaps by painting things like "#1 mom" , "I love you mom", hearts, flowers, or anything else that your kids can think of. Let your kids be creative and have fun, if your kids are to small to paint pictures you can put paint on their hands and let them stamp it on the soap. While the paint is drying melt the wax in a disposable container. Once the paint is dry use the disposable paint brush to put a layer of wax on top of the painted image. Once this layer of wax is dry it will protect the image, and people will be able to use the soap without the image disappearing.
Mother's day origami flowers bouquet- This is the perfect craft to give your mom instead of a bouquet of fresh flowers. These flowers will last longer and mean more because you made them yourself.
You will need:
Several colors of thin paper
Green pipe cleaner
A small vase or a ribbon
If you have never made origami flowers before it is easy to learn. When you make origami flowers you fold pieces of paper so they look like flowers. There are many books that teach you step by step how to fold the paper, you can check one out from your library. You can also find places on-line that give step by step tutorials on origami. Origami instructions is a site that has instructions for a lot of different things you can make by folding paper, and they have several flowers that you can make. Once you have folded the flowers stick a pipe cleaner through the bottom of each flower to make a stem. Then put the flowers all together in a vase or tie them together with a ribbon. This is a bouquet that mom will be able to keep for a long time.
