Now, just go ahead and cover your work surface with some newspaper. This will make clean up easy!
You can buy bags of great thin wood cut outs in almost any shape in the arts and craft store. You can look for any shape you want or even for one that is already cut out in an award ribbon shape.
If you want though, the kids can cut their own award ribbon shape out of foam core board, card stock or even fun foam.
Now, the first step is to paint your award ribbon cutout with the acrylic paint. You can use leftover house paint if that is what you have.
Blue is a great color for #1 ribbons, but any color will probably work for Mom.
Let this dry.
Now, the kids need to mix some white craft glue with some water. Use this thinned down glue to paint the wood cutout. Now, sprinkle on the glitter. They can gently hit the award ribbon on the table to knock off the excess glitter.
Now, for the little details. You need to paint on the words "#1 Mom!!"
Try to have a range of artist paintbrushes for the kids to work with. You can by a pack of paintbrushes for about $3 at the arts and craft store in the craft section. It will have a bunch of different sized brushed ranging from super thin to about ½ inch wide.
At this point you can add any more small details you think your #1 Mommy Pin is lacking.
You can also glue a small white pom pom on the back as an Easter bunny.
Now, to make this simple #1 Mommy ribbon shape into a pin all you need to do is glue a store bought pin onto the back. You can buy bags of them at the arts and craft store for like $4.
Kids can present Mom with her #1 Mom Pin on Mother's Day and everyone will be a winner!
