Mother's Day: the Day I Will Always Remember

Mother's Day was Not a Typical Mother's Day for Me, in 1997. I Had a Special Mother's Day

Mrs.Rogers
The weekend before Mother's day, 1997, was a weekend like no other. I was heading to the hospital. I was going to be induced so that I could deliver my second child, my baby daughter. I was ecstatic, and so was my husband. We had one child previous and it was going to be different with the second one arriving. We wanted to make sure that everything was going to be equally shared between the two daughters. Our love, our attention and our hearts. Like many second time mothers, and fathers, you ask yourself if you are prepared to love the second as much as you love the first born. Of course you can and do, but these are burning questions, we all have shared. This was the day before Mother's Day, May 10th, 1997. Here is my story.

I was situated in a maternity room, lots of space, with private accommodations. This was good because I am a private person, when things of this nature are presented. I had totally not forgotten that I was going to spend Mother's Day in the hospital. but that was fie, because moments like this make for a blessed Mother's Day, in my opinion. According to my doctor though things were to be put on standby , I was to try and hold off having my baby to May 11th, 1997, Mother's Day. In one way it was good, but in another it was hard.

While all my friends were being wooed over and taken out for a nice meal, I was going to be hollering and pushing. I was not going to get to eat again till after I had my baby. Around 6:00 am the morning of May 11th, my induction began back up. I was now having hard contractions, and I was tired, because of lack of sleep from the night. I had my beautiful daughter at 7:49 am.,just in time for me to eat some breakfast, nah, just joking.

This was the most memorable Mother's Day for me. Nothing beats having your child on the day that honors your being a mother. It was truly a testament to all us mothers. I will always remember that day, and I have been reminded of it, each birthday, my second child celebrates, and each Mother's Day that has passed.

Being a mother of three lovely children. I love to write if it will help others, and if it is read and enjoyed by others. Writing is like therapy for me. When I write my emotions come across and I believe...  View profile
