Mother's Day Dining: China Buffet of Pearl, Mississippi is Delicious Food!

ShawneeWrites
Mother's Day was a joy for me besides the fact that I was able to enjoy yet another year of family love and two beautiful children. My husband and daughter took me to a restaurant near the town where my husband often does a lot of work for a local bakery. The charming town where the restaurant is located in Pearl, Mississippi. The restaurant is the wonderful China Buffet!

Having dined in this cozy little business once before, I was eager to return. It was my mother's day wish to have dinner with my family in this particular place. The China Buffet is conveniently located near the local Wal Mart, which is great if you want to walk off the irresistible food you just filled up on. You can do your shopping after you eat and burn some of those calories with the locals in the Pearl, Mississippi, Wal Mart!

Once you walk in the door, you are greeted with big smiles from the staff, which helps enhance the great down-home Mississippi atmosphere, and you are immediately shown a table. The drink order is taken and is back to your table before you can finish filling your plate at the luscious buffet that is offered. Drinks are $1.29 each and are served in tall glasses, refilled upon request if not noticed beforehand. We did not have to wait to ask for refills. The waitress for our table remained alert as to the status of our needs, always with a friendly smile. True China Buffet graciousness is included with your meal.

The buffet is certainly one to be proud of, at a price of $11.99 per adult; you get more than your money's worth of choices. I chose several different shrimp dishes, battered, boiled, mixed with vegetables, served cold and hot depending on the type of dish---all were well-worth the decision. The fried catfish was perfect. being a southern girl who is used to having her catfish deep-fried, I must say I am usually disappointed in it served any other way. The China Buffet fish was not greasy, which made it an even better choice and to my surprise, an even better taste. It was battered lightly and cooked just right, no fishy taste whatsoever, and it still managed to taste like fried catfish. I tried their mushrooms, which were in a light brown sauce and were delicious. The chow mein noodles and the broccoli dishes did not disappoint. I was even happy with the desserts, which included plenty of fruits and Chinese pastries. I usually don't care much for the pastries in such a restaurant, but these were light and airy and actually had flavor to them. Mine was filled with a type of chocolate mousse and topped with a caramel-like topping that had mocha flavor--absolutely delectable! I tried a fruit dish that was covered in some sort of sauce, which included small round tomatoes. I was sure that would at least cause some regret as I'd never had a fruit dish mixed with what most consider a vegetable thrown in. Not so at all, once again I was completely satisfied.

We were given the convenient choice of paying at our table when we were done with our meal, which meant no waiting in line. I would highly recommend a visit to this quaint little restaurant anytime you are near Highway 80 East in Pearl, Mississippi!
