My mom loves my special French toast with vanilla and nutmeg added to the egg batter. It's easy to make and delicious. Just follow these simple steps:
Crack 3 eggs into a small mixing bowl. Add 1 tsp. of vanilla and a ½ tsp. of nutmeg
Dip 3 slices of thick, Texas toast into the mixture.
Spray a frying pan with Pam and add the toast.
Cook on both sides until golden brown.
Cut each slice of toast diagonally.
Put confectioners' sugar into a sifter and tap sides over the toast.
Serve with warm maple syrup and butter.
While dad makes the breakfast and coffee, let the kids decorate the breakfast tray with placemats that they made themselves. For the placemats you will need:
One heavy piece of cardboard
2 sheets of clear contact paper
Colored markers
Take a black marker and neatly write a Mother's Day poem. Draw stars or hearts around your poem with your favorite color markers, then place the poem between two sheets of contact paper and its ready for the breakfast tray. Mother's Day activities like this keep the kids busy, while allowing them to participate in the festivities of mom's special day.
Make a quick trip to the garden and snip a single rose. Put rose into a nice vase and place on the breakfast tray. Add the French toast, coffee, a linen napkin, and utensils. Put Mother's Day cards on the side of the tray. Add two wrapped chocolates at each corner.
Gently wake mom up, and position the breakfast tray. Let the kids pile into the bed with mom as she reads the cards.
If you're mom is a history buff, try the Mothers Thru History game. Divide into two teams. Have one team captain ask the other team a question about a famous mother in history. That team has to identify who the famous mother is. The team with the most accurate guesses wins.
