Herbal Tea Samples
Visit a tea store to find loose tea in a variety of flavors. Buy samples of several flavors and a larger bag of your mother's favorite.
Tea Strainer
Tea strainers or infusers come in all different shapes and sizes. The classic tea ball is easy to use and clean. Simply place the loose tea inside the ball, close it and let it steep in a cup of hot water. Tea strainers can be shaped like any number of things including apples, bears or even mini tea pots.
Beautiful Cup and Saucer
It can feel decadent to drink tea out of a fancy tea cup. Most mothers, however, won't get a piece of their good china out for their daily cup of tea. But, it's easy to find something elegant and inexpensive that no one would mind using daily. Browse a thrift store to find an old china cup and saucer set. If you are lucky, you can find a pair so you can tell your mother that you plan on joining her for tea throughout the year.
Sugar Cubes
Include some special sugar cubes, especially if you know your mother likes her tea sweetened. Plain sugar cubes are a nice touch, but some candy stores and specialty food shops sell decorated sugar cubes. Find cubes decorated with flowers, hearts or butterflies.
Local Honey
As an alternative to sugar, include some honey for sweetening the tea. Local, raw honey can be found at farm stores throughout the country.
Your Mother's Favorite Tea
Of course, include a supply of your mother's favorite tea. Whether that is Earl Gray or Celestial Seasonings Chamomile, be sure there is a box of it in the gift basket.
Tea Bag Holder
A pretty ceramic tea bag holder can be used to hold the wet tea bag, tea strainer or stirring spoon. Tea bag holders can usually be found at gift shops or specialty tea stores.
A Good Book
To take full advantage of a relaxing tea time, a mother may like to read a good book or work on a crossword puzzle. Include her favorite genre novel or a puzzle book. To keep the expense low, browse a used book store.
Putting It All Together
Find an inexpensive gift basket at a department or discount store. Line it with a tea towel, fill it with the gifts and tie a pretty bow on the handle.
A Mother's Day tea gift basket is filled with consumable items and some keepsakes and makes the perfect Mother's Day gift for any tea lover.
