Mother's Day & the Gift She Will Never Forget

There is Nothing Better Than Privacy & a Vacation

JC Torpey
Mother's Day is right around the corner and it will be here this May 9 2010. I am sure you are probably stuck on thinking about what you should give the mother in your life as a gift, right? You certainly do not want to give the same old flowers you usually do, or the same "I love you Mom" cards you have tucked away in your drawer. You know the ones; the pack of 20 Mother's Day themed cards you bought years ago because you thought you would save yourself some time and money for years to come. However, you have now finally realized just how special the Mom in your life really is and you know she deserves more than a 10 year old card, especially if it is the same card and the same saying every year.

So then, why don't you get her something she could use and really appreciate this year for a change of pace? I'm not saying that she does not appreciate the thought of you remembering her with the usual gifts, I am just saying that maybe it is time for something new, a surprise gift that comes from the heart. An action like this is sure to make her wonder what has gotten into you.

A Vacation from Home is Still a Vacation

When Mom's have no time to do anything for themselves, they could sure use a vacation, right? While the Mom in your life might not actually have time for a vacation, it would still be nice to help her get away from everything for a while. Why not get her a gift card for a night or a weekend at a Hotel she really enjoys staying at? Not the usual Motel 6 kind of hotels, but a real Radisson or Double Tree Suites room with all the trimmings and room service she could want. Just be sure that when you purchase the gift card it does not expire. If possible, try to set the date and pretend it is unchangeable or she may not actually get around to using it.

A Private Home Vacation

This could actually turn into a vacation as well if planned properly. For example, if the Mom in your life has children, why not make preparations to send the children to their favorite Grandparent's house for a weekend. This way, Mom gets the house to herself but knows she can do what she wants at home if needed. Also, there is no rush to go anywhere or to even get dressed if she does not want to. This is a great time for her to do whatever she always wants to do but never has the time. Catching up on some reading while lounging around drinking an entire cup of coffee before it gets cold and not having to fix breakfast and get the kids ready for school can be just as much a vacation than most people think. Sometimes, all a Mother wants is some peace and quiet, which they so rarely get these days.

No matter what it is that you do for the mother in your life, it will always be appreciated. These days the way technology and life rushed by all of us at lightning speed, it is amazing anything is remembered at all. Nevertheless, the best gifts come from the heart when you really know a person and they are all the more appreciated.

Good ideas! My mom never lets us do this kind of stuff for her, but my sisters and I keep trying every year.
