Mother's Day Poem

For You Grandma

Shana Dines
She protects and loves unconditionally,

Loves with all of her heart.

Teaches with tender mercy.

Grandma, mother to me.

Oh Lord she cries why?

Take this bitter cup from me.

Protect these children,

As they leave my arms.

Protect them from harm,

That I know is there.

She cries in the night,

Turning them over to her silent God.

They are not always under her care,

When she is not there,

She cries as she prays.

Lord please protect them from harm.

She rocks them as she sings hymns of praise,

Builds their self-esteem,

Has pride in their accomplishments.

She can no longer play with them like she would like,

Legs arthritic and bowed.

But she loves,

Oh how she loves.

God, she teaches the little ones of Him

And she loves, oh how she loves.

Now she is gone,

But not really,

Her memory lives on.

She visits to give strength

In spirit,

And

Oh she loves,

Oh how she loves.

Many children are lucky enough to have grandmothers that serve in the place of mothers who don't know how to mother.

Very Beautiful Poem. Every child should be allowed to experience the love and calmness of a grandmother.

The bond between my grandma and me was among the deepest I've ever experienced. Although I treasure the memories, I will always miss sitting on the porch with her, rocking and sipping iced tea, looking out over the hills of Kentucky.

This is precious Shana. You are your mothers daughter. She lives on thru you. What a touching tribute and one that I am sure your mother would feel honored by. What a gift you have and one that you've shared with us. Thank you.
