Mother's Day Poems: My Mom's Favorite Gift

Emily Dunstan
Here are two mother's day poems I wrote for my mom. She absolutely loves recieving them every year. I think she enjoys the mother's day poems more than any other present we give her. It doesn't matter how corny the poems are, she keeps every single one of them. She still has mother's day poems I wrote for her all the way back in first grade. That poem spelled "Happy Mothers Day" and each line had a word that started with that letter. The first poem will follow in that fashion, only a little more advanced. The second poem is probably the one I will give her this year because I like it more.

Family Conversation on Mother's Day

How often do you get to take a special day just for you?

Almost never, as you are always busy taking care of the family

Put down that skillet, the dishes, the laundry

Put down the mop and put on your shoes

You are going out with us to celebrate beautiful, wonderful, you

Maybe we'll go to the movies

Or that fancy new restaurant in town

That's up to you Mom, tonight is for you to decide

Here's a present I bought you, I hope it's your size

Enjoy the flowers and the poems we wrote for you

Restaurant is crowded, but that's okay, the

Seafood is delicious and so is the souffle

Dad, we should take Mom out more often

And she wouldn't have to cook or wash dishes

Yeah, I bet that's one of Mom's wishes. Well, Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day Poem

Dear Mom,

You have always been there for me

Even at two o' clock in the morning

When I call to pour out my heart's misery

Your soothing voice is always the cure

To melt away the heartache and pain

Only a mother's love can be so pure

Like a gentle morning rain

You are not just my mother, but my dearest friend

We can talk about the silliest things for hours

And our laughter is without end

Your hugs make me feel warm to the core

And your smile just brightens my day

Being with you is simply never a bore

I can spend time with you all day

From hanging my drawings on the refrigerator

To being the loudest one cheering

When I scored a goal in soccer

You have been full of praise and encouragment

That's helped me grow into the woman I am

Kind, loving and confidant

So Mom, what I am trying to say to you

Is that I really and truly appreciate

All the million little things you do

I could never thank you enough

And finding exactly the right words to say

How much I love you can be tough

But Mom, I love you, and Happy Mother's Day!
