Mother's Day Quotes, Proverbs and What They Mean to Me

Mary Wensing Dvorachek
My Mother is still alive but suffers from Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. Memories are all I have now as she is unable to participate or function. No matter what she has, she is still my Mother and I have learned so much from her, and through her illnesses she continues to teach me without having to say a word. Through my Mother's guidance I became the person I am today. All because of the love of a Mother.

Dedicated to: All those children who's Mother's are afflicted with a disease or condition, and to all the children who's Mother's are no longer with us, and to All of those that are still blessed to have your Mother with you.

Gregory Nunn
Anyone who doesn't miss the past never had a Mother.

How many of us miss our childhood and the way our Mother's nurturing ways taught us so very much.

James Joyce
Whatever else is unsure in this stinking dunghill of a world a Mother's love is not.

Our Mother's are always there for us. Through good times and bad.

Jewish Proverb
A Mother understands what a child does not say.

All you have to do is just look at your Mother's eyes to know she understands what you want to say or how you are feeling.

Pearl Buck
Some are kissing mothers and some are scolding Mothers, but it is love just the same; and most Mothers kiss and scold together.

We scold one minute and kiss and hug the next. Our Mothers were and are very good at this.

Sophia Loren
When you are a Mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. A Mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child.

We have to think of what we are going to do and how, and then we have to think of what would be best for our child.

Irish Proverb
A man loves his sweetheart the most, his wife the best, but his Mother the longest.

He not only Loves his Mother the longest as well as has known her the longest.

Elizabeth Barrett Browning
Women know the way to rear up children (to be just). They know a simple, merry, tender knack of tying sashes, fitting baby-shoes, and stringing pretty words that make no sense. And kissing full sense into empty words.

Mother's always know just what to do, and how to say it, and they teach us with everything they do.

Washington Irving
A Mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.

Our Mother's are by our sides through thick and thin.

Henry Ward Beecher
The Mother's heart is the child's schoolroom.

Our Mother's not only teach us manners, love, respect, cooking, cleaning, gardening, sewing and so much more. There is always a lesson to be learned no matter how old we get.

James Russell Lowell
That best academy, a Mother's knee.

Sitting on Mum ma's knee, I learned riddles, songs, tenderness, stories and so much more. A whole world was opened up to me sitting on Mum ma's knee, MaryLynn321

Thank you Judy, I don't know about me being an Angel, I do try to be the best person I can be. Yes it is a tough situation when something is wrong with anyones parent. But, it does seem a little harder when one has to go through the Alzheimer and Parkinson's diseases. I can only imagine how difficult it has been for my Mother. Thank you so much for your comments. Hugs Mary

Mary, you are an angel like your mother. My mother was not around much while I was growing up but I had a wonderful, wonderful Grandmother, Aunt, and Stepmother who loved me with all their hearts and guided me and my sisters with love, discipline, and gentleness. My Stepmother had Alzheimer's, too. It is so hard to see your loved one suffer with this disease, but as Amy said, she was with us and sometimes she seemed to have a moment of clarity and knew us. God bless.
