Motivating Children with Yarn, Safety Scissors and Play-Doh

Jenny Heart
All children grow fast. They need as much motivation as possible during their informative years. Parents, childcare workers and family members can help children learn and have fun at the same time using yarn, safety scissors and play doh.

Give the children some yarn, play doh and safety scissors to experiment with. Watch their imaginations grow and their motor skills improve.
.
Talk to children about things that are the same shape as yarn. Yarn is long like spaghetti. Children could use their safety scissors and cut different sizes of spaghetti shaped sizes. Children who develop creative ways of playing with yarn, safety scissors and play doh will never run out of exciting ways to add to their entertainment.

Making thing with yarn can be fun and exciting. Here are a few thing children can make with yarn even if they are toddlers.

Necklaces can be as simple as one piece of yarn placed on the neck and tied. Ankle yarn bracelets and rings. Think creatively and a yarn braid could be added as a hair piece add-on to a child's favorite doll. Simple examples could be as simple as wrapping yarn around a ponytail.

Many hand string games can be lots of fun while adding to a child's imagination. Yarn and fingers can't help but add to hours of fun and creativity while building great memories and learning experiences.

Play doh is for forming more than shaped spaghetti or bright colored jewelry accessories. Play doh can be flattened out like a pancake. Children love to work with most things that are placed in their hands with much enthusiasm. Watch their motor skills grow stronger after twisting and cutting yarn and play doh.

Friendship bracelets can be fun to make and share while playing with play doh. Children can build many friendships by this one simple kind gesture of loving friendship.

I know these ideas work because I shared them with two bright creative children that I do childcare serviced for. They inspire me as much as I hope I inspire them.

I dedicate this article to Sierra and Rylei. Sierra is 7 and Rylei is 2. Play doe is one of their favorite playthings. They make me pancakes almost everyday. Why? They continue to be amazed by all the different things they can make with play doh. Many more ideas will be shared and enjoy.

Fun ideas, and safety scissors are so important. Even now, I always manage to prick myself with sharp scissor ends.

I prefer simple creative items like yarn and Play Doh for kids. With so many electronic gadgets these days, it's nice to see importance placed on imagination.
