Most of the time I will not try to explain what a song is about unless I think I really know as most are greatly debated by fans. I will focus on if I like it and my opinion of the musical aspect as I play an instrument.
This was the first album for Motley Crue back in 1981. This had the original line up of Vince Neil, Mick Mars, Nikki Sixx, and Tommy Lee. The music is very good and heavy for the period. Neil has pretty good vocal performances. Mick Mars does a very good job on the guitar on this album. This was not his best guitar work, but it all pieced together with the drums and bass that more than makes up for it. You also get five bonus tracks not originally included.
Songs on this album include
1 Live wire
This has some good guitar with a slow and fast part, not much of a guitar solo though.
2 Come on and dance
I like the song, but really is not much special
about it
3 Public enemy #1
About someone who is pretty wanted. Good guitar and drums
4 Merry go round
Nice slow song. I like the guitar parts to this. This is kind of relaxing music. It's supposed to be about someone who partied too hard and went crazy.
5 Take me to the top
The drum fills on this are really good. It has a rather catchy riff to it.
6 Piece of your action
Good medium type beat song. Nice guitar parts. Musicians love for the opposite sex is the subject of this.
7 Starry Eyes
This is about those women with those mesmerizing eyes who get what she wants because you can't resist. Very nice guitar parts and solo on this
8 Too fast for love
It is a good song nothing is really special about it musically though
9 On with the show
Nikki Sixx wrote this about a drug overdose from my understanding. This is the first song I learned to play on guitar or play live. It has two guitar solos that are almost identical. I actually really like this slower ballad type song.
I do like Motley Crue, but I did get into this music much earlier in my life than when I found Christ (or when he found me). The main thing is to realize this is not real. Unfortunately some people don't realize that. The men that recorded this at this time in their lives were not the best role models but were very talented musicians. Anyone who can play the way Mick Mars did while high and drunk has talent. Although I would pass on the drinking capacity I would not mind playing guitar as good as him.
