The Motorola Droid is shaped much like its competitor, the iPhone, but it is slightly larger. The Motorola Droid is thicker than the iPhone and weighs about 25% more. The extra weight is worth it though as the size offers a large high-resolution screen that is bigger than the iPhone and has a sharper image.
While the Motorola Droid has that large 3.7 inch screen, it still doesn't have multitouch features. You can't perform any two-finger zooming on the Droid and the some users are saying that other phones have better touch screens than the Motorola Droid.
The Motorola Droid can take some fantastic pictures though and it has a built in flash, something missing on the iPhone. The iPhone has three megapixels but the Motorola Droid offers five megapixels. The battery in the Motorola Droid has 6.4 hours of life per charge so you shouldn't ever miss a picture or a call.
There are currently over 12,000 applications available to run on the Motorola Droid and you can run those apps simultaneously. Everything from getting the weather, finding a restaurant to getting directions is available. Even though there are 100,000 applications for the iPhone, The Motorola Droid does beat out the small number of applications available for the other Droid competition BlackBerry or Palm (PALM) can currently offer.
The Motorola Droid runs at $200, but that is after you get the $100 rebate and you have to buy the two year service plan that will run you at least $70 a month. The monthly cost will be more if you want to send text messages, and who doesn't send text messages.
Recently on Motorola forums it has been reported that users are experiencing problems with the speaker features on the phone. The problem is reported as "speaker issues with the handset" and users are starting to miss calls. For now the workaround seems to be simply turning the phone off and on again. But remember not to use the phone as an alarm clock, you probably won't wake up.
Another drawback of the Motorola Droid is the physical keyboard. It is too flat and tight and very hard to hit the right keys when typing. And it does not have auto-correction, not a good thing for text message lovers. Note that the virtual on-screen keyboard on the Motorola Droid does include auto-correction.
A final shortcoming of the Motorola Droid is that the screen on has three panels for applications but the iPhone offers eleven.
The Motorola Droid is a good smart phone, especially for Verizon customers that want a smart phone and don't want to change carriers to get one. It has a lot of great features and can compete with the iPhone, but it also has some drawbacks that you need to be aware of before you buy.

Post a Commentyes go to market search speed dial there an app. works fine . The screen will go black when trying to hang up from an unanswered call i had to take battery out to hang up from call. my phone kill selected apps is always full even when i kill list , then i recheck the list is still full of apps i have not opened in a awhile. I have been missing alot of calls the ringer isnt sounding .the camera is not that great. The Droid would be a great phone when the kinks are fixed.Don't get me wrong it does have alot of good apps. the navigator I have used works great.
Has anyone had this problem? I have no idea what makes it go dark because it is not always like this. At first I thought it was related to the battery life, but that is not so. It just seems to get dark and stay that way for a long time. It gets so that I cannot see the call log and contacts tab. Good thing I know where they are. Also does anyone know who to set the speed dials? I cannot seem to figure that out. My phone has also been freezing alot and will not let me change pages or return to home. Any Ideas?
