Motorola RAZR = Excellent Phone

Why I Love Mine

Lauren Fant
I bought my RAZR back in August 2006 when I was upgrading my phone with T-Mobile. It was the most "high-tech" phone they had, with the exception of the Sidekick, which I was not willing to pay for. Eleven months ago, this was the must-have phone. Everyone wanted it because of its cool design and Bluetooth capabilities. Nowadays, though, most people don't even consider it when buying a new phone. With the Apple iPhone out and various other expensive new phones, the RAZR has become a thing of the past. I think this is very unfortunate, and I wish people would still give this phone a chance. It has been the most reliable phone I've ever had, and I've been through about 5 cell phones, all different brands, over the years. I understand that a lot of people would rather have the phone with the iTunes compatibility, or the miniature keyboard included for sending IMs, which is fine if you can afford to pay for them. However, for those of us who can't put the money out for these phones, I hope you'll consider the RAZR when making a new purchase.

The best part about the RAZR is probably its signal capabilities. The only place that I HAVEN'T had a signal was in the woods in the North Carolina mountains. However, once I got out of the woods and farther up the mountain...full signal, indeed. Any place that I've never had a signal before - inside my church, school rooms, any place that happens to be like a bomb shelter, basically - I now have a signal there. All of my friends are walking around the phone with their phones up in the air while I'm having a conversation. So don't worry about being stuck on the highway with that flat tire - chances are, you'll have a signal almost anywhere you are...Europe included, as mine worked perfectly in France.

The RAZR also has a lot of cool functions. The internet capabilities are awesome, and extremely fast. I'm able to check e-mail, surf the internet, download ringtones, etc. - all very quickly. The internet function is an additional charge, but ringtones and wallpapers downloads come standard - you pay for the actual item, but not the internet connection required to download them. There are also tons of games to download, a lot of which you might play on your computer - Diner Dash, Cake Mania, Tri-Peaks Solitaire...all of the good ones! You can also read news, check maps, look at movie times, etc. Pretty much everything you can do on the computer. Yes, you're compromising with a smaller screen, but for quick info checks, it's not bad at all.

The sound quality on the RAZR is great, too. Your ringtone can be set on silent, or on the loudest possible setting, which can be heard downstairs and through a closed door. The quality of the ringtones is awesome, especially the RealTones that you can download (i.e., actual bits of the song, not just some beeping that sounds like it). The songs don't sound fuzzy or muffled - they're radio quality, and you can set an individual ringtone for every single contact in your phonebook. If your phone starts ringing, you can quickly press the volume button on the side of the phone to deny the call, and it will stop ringing and go straight to voice mail. Great for forgetting to turn it off in class or in a meeting!

Motorola's RAZR is an awesome phone, especially for those of us who want a high quality phone, but can't afford to pay $300 for the newest digital thing out there. Trust me, if I could buy an iPhone, I probably would, but I don't have that kind of money laying around to purchase it right now. My RAZR is a year old almost, and I love it. It's never had any bugs or problems, functions perfectly, and holds a charge like you wouldn't believe. If you're looking for a new phone but don't want to buy the most expensive thing out there, look no further than the RAZR for a high-tech phone at a lower cost.
