Fans of video racing games would be glad to know that Sony Computer Entertainment America, Inc has announced that MotorStorm will be bundled with its 80GB model of the Playstation 3. The new PS3 model will be available in August for $599. Sony has also announced that the 60GB model of the PS3 will still be available but at a lower price of $499, $100 lower than the price when it was originally released.

Sony hopes that the 80GB Playstation 3 model will appeal to online gamers and entertainment enthusiast as it provides a relatively large storage space for more games and entertainment content from the Playstation Network. The bundled MotorStorm is a fast-paced racing game that allows up to 12 players to play the game online at the same time.

MotorStorm was originally developed by Evolution Studios but it was published by Sony exclusively for the PS3 and is rated Teen. The goal of the game is to win a series of races by controlling different types of vehicles including rally cars, big rigs, dirt bikes, ATVs, racing trucks, buggies and mudpluggers. Each racing tracks has a variety of obstacles like bumps, ledges, mudpits, cliffs, jumps, that makes it challenging for every player. Motorstorm has been receiving good reviews from different gaming sites and gaming magazines. Since the console's release, more than 120 software titles were already released that were compatible with the PS3.

The Playstation 3 is the successor of Sony's popular gaming consoles, the Playstation 1 and Playstation 2. The original Playstation 1 plays games made from ordinary CD discs, the Playstation 2 plays DVD games while the Playstation 3's storage media is the Blu-ray disc but can support SACDs, DVDs and CDs.

The Playstation 3 was first released in Japan on November 11, 2006 followed by its release on North America, Taiwan and Hong Kong on November 17, 2006. When the Playstation 3 was initially released, it was available in 20GB and 60GB models but the 20GB models was subsequently discontinued in the United States and Canada just last April 2007 because of lack of demands. The Playstation 3's 80GB model was first introduced in Korea with an IPTV capability.

"As we move into the next phase of PS3, it's important that we continue to evaluate our product line, offering consumers the technology and features that meet their growing needs for new forms of media and the way in which it is delivered," Jack Tretton, president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America said in the press release. He goes on to add that with the PS3's expanded storage capacity, the new price of the 60 GB model, the expansion of Playstation Network's services and new software titles that will be released this year, more options for users will be provided and will also help bring in new customers for the PS3.

The Playstation 3's features include Cell Broadband Engine, Blu-ray Disc player, built-in HDD, 1080p high-definition output, Wi-Fi connectivity and IXAXIS wireless controller.
